McCartney playing finger style?!

Link? I really would like to see this conversation.

It is commonly circulated on bootlegs from the Let It Be Sessions. Neil Aspinall asks Paul about the song they had been playing earlier. Paul identifies it as The One After 909. He discussed how he and John would slag off from school to write songs. he said he always hated the lyircs to that one and went into a mocking version of "move over once...move over twice...come on baby don't be cold as ice."

Then he said it's so bad it's great.

The discussion on the pick came from 1963 on take two of the original recording. You can hear that on the Anthology disc.

Which period of Beatles? This ancient interview with Paul and John gives some insight:

How much are those Hofner straps in U.S. $ ?

Be cautious when buying one. Those old school Hofner straps do not work on newer basses including the Icon.

The older basses had a space behind the fretboard just above the body where you could tie the string around. The bass was strapped and removed by unhooking a dog clip at the bottom of the bass.

If ypu look around you can find ones that look similar but have holes to go over today's button straps.

so hes clipped it on the front somehow?
It looks like it goes around/under the neck

It goes under the fretboard, but he had a strap button placed on the Hofner and now uses a wider "standard" strap. Invalid Link Removed
It's true that the Chisese made Hofners don't have the space under the fingerboard.-- use a standard strap. I've seen early pix of McCartney having the strap attached to the headstock of the Hofner as well. Fender used to includes a strap with the 1-inch strap and shoulder pad with each bass. They still sell one ($18) but it doesn't have the loop at the end. Hofner sells the loop strap for $40.

Thanks for letting me know. I had a used 65 Hofner lefty back in the 1970's, I think it came with a strap but I don't remember what it looked like. I'll hunt for some old pics.

Anyway the "doglead strap" works on the Contemporary: it has the regular gap between the neck and body.

Well In the help movie paul plays with his thumb a lot, I don't really think he used a pick during the beatles all that often, if ever. If you look at this video of him playing bass he is plucking it with the thumb.
