Meatbox reissue, huh?

So...after the initial excitement seems to have died down a bit, I'm wondering: How are you using your Meatbox. I'm still a bit wary of what it does to PAs, since I've only been running it through my amp with a 4x10. I'm actually using it throughout an entire new song, since it sounds so nice and thick, but am a bit afraid that it could be too much low-end in a live situation.

I've used it live a time or two. Not much though. I did find it pertinent to tell the sound guy though. I just told him that I kick on a sub harmonic pedal in the intro of a couple songs. He didn't seem to worried about it but thanked me for the warning so to speak.

I can understand some guys' hesitation to use the meatbox for fear of destroying woofers or PA systems. But again, be smart about it. You'll be fine. You dime every knob like Juan does, you will most likely have some problems. Use your ears and head. It's not hard ;) we don't all have the luxury is being sponsored by a big company that will replace our speakers if we blow them.

Even still, after saying all that, I've lost a lot of fear of the meatbox. I'm still a little skittish, but I'm not at the point anymore where I'm scared to use it. Playing with a light touch goes a long way too. Remember that.

What Greg said. Just be smart about it, don't dime everything. If you do dime everything, don't dime the direct knob. I also keep my Keeley Bassist limiter on at all times and that handles a lot of the speaker crunching lows, while still being floor shaking out of my 1x12/6 avatar cab.

Got my Meatbox Monday, jammed with it at home a little last night. I found that the Octave, Sub, and Low knobs were highly interactive, which will take some getting used to/ Anyone care to share what settings they like?

They are indeed.

I usually keep my bass and low the same, both around 4 o'clock. The the octave around 1 o'clock or maybe a tad higher depending. Level to the situation. Set like that though, the level gets cra cra a little past 1 o'clock. That's "be effin careful" country.

Thanks! That's pretty much where I settled it last night. I wish I was in a situation where I could be sending a signal to a sub, but the fatness is just intense.

Of course, now I have to get some more Velcro and rearrange the board.

On a side note, my recording project group finished tracking this weekend. I ended up running the Smoothie, Ginger, Barbershop, and MXR pre straight into Protools. I'm hoping for minimal processing on top of that. The tone is amazing, can't wait to share!

That's almost exactly how I set mine too lol. Sometimes I like the octave dimed though

Yeah for sure. Thats for when you turn everything all up and go to town! haha. I dont often do that. I think Ive only done that at home through my Ampeg B50R. Its like the amp wont let that much power through so it wont blow. But you can def hear it distorting and farting like crazy. I still play REALLY lightly and carefully. It would be the poopie to here it that way through a pro PA. Wow. I think Id get sick.

I wish mine had arrived sooner so I could've run it through the monitors and sub at the school's studio. I was already rumbling chairs with my low B in the control room... imagine what the MB would've done!

How do you think I feel?!? I got mine a week after the first time we play the House of Blues Chi then the second time we played, I forgot to hook it up. Or rather, I forgot I used in one of the songs we played in that set. I was so pissed!
