Meatbox reissue, huh?

Damn straight! A straight milkbox reissue would make me a happy little boy.

Just bought an atk and am trawling the threads... Did you keep yours?

Of course I did!! Haha I love my ATK. I've grown a tad stale on the tone as of late, but I recently changed some things around and I'm once again in love with its tone. What a grand bass.

What kind did you get specifically? I have an early 90s ATK300. Just so good. I've played some of those newer and while a bit different, they a really nice basses.

Gosh, if only I had a milkbox reissue to feed a nice even signal to my meatbox...
I have to try that. I do have both, got the Milkbox before they became rarer and brought it out when I got the new Meatbox to use After as a limiter, but I've learned a milder form of Meatbox setting (octave (mix) 1 o clock, low 3, and sub less, at 1, volume almost full, sub is the key to destruction) and it sounds better without the compressor after. Then to Ibanez bass synth on slow envelope or Prunes and Custard, very slick 80s synth bass sound all in a pre Superego loop, Superego loves Meatbox. Meatbox is safe driving a Superego. Using the compressor also dilutes Superego auto-triggering, so... (my Milkbox is not for sale) So I'm still trying to use Milkbox and Meatbox together. One cool grouping was Spark Booster into Prunes and Custard into Milk Box. All creamy.

A 95 305. Already contemplating putting a DG tone capsule in it if I can't get the grind I want. Although I am fully expecting to love it.

I wonder if the current orange compressor reissue would be good for bass? What do you reckon people?

Honestly, I put the tone capsule in mine. I love DG. Yet I opted to keep the original preamp in it. Just sayin

Got a good quality board recording from last weekend, don't normally use the MB QUITE this liberally but here it is...!

Gyres - (headphones/speakers with good low freq response... obviously recommended haha)

LOVING THIS PEDAL, got quite a few "what in the world are you using to get that tone?" comments; this Meatbox is legit. Settings in the clip are basically dimed, mixed the uncompressed wet with a lightly-compressed dry. Those subs were hitting HARD

So no media to share yet, but I just finished a show at HoB Anaheim, and this thing was a monster through a full system. I used it for a few parts just to give a good Earthquuake to the notes. I could feel the room shaking.

It's a shame I can't really dial it in much at home on my monitors and headphones, it just doesn't translate with out big subs. I think I found a good setting the keeps about half of my fundamental tone and half deep deep lows.

Easter weekend I'll be back at church, I can't wait to run it through our 36,000 watt 8 - 2x18 subs.

Demo is up! Play this through your rig, or through some subs. It is 6+ minutes of bass only bowel eruptions. No drums, talking, or BS. I took extreme care to prevent clipping on recording, limiter on audio during mix down, so you should get unaltered and (however much it can be) safe listening experience.

I took my meatbox to band practice last night and couldn't get it dialed in. I'm not sure if it's me or the pedal but it seems like at mild settings like octave all the way down and sub and low about noon I have to crank the output all the way just to get back to unity. Is that how everyone's work. I thought it would have a little more volume on tap.

Yes, that is not uncommon. Just watch out, depending on where you set bass and sub at, the output can have a drastic spike in the going from noon to 1 oclock area of the dial. Like me, I usually set my bass and sub around 3:30 or so, octave around 11 or noon. If I were to set my output at 1 oclock, Id be seriously bumpin. If I back it off to 11 or a touch above, the output is very low.

So it most def is one of those things of learning the pedal. I thought mine was broke when I first got because I had the same "issue" you did. Its really not an issue, just gotta learn the pedal. The sub and bass have heavy effect on the overall pedal.

Cool, sounds like it's normal and it's just me. Thanks man, I'll do some more knob twisting and see if I can dial it in.

Sorry to chime in a bit late, thinking about getting one of these and running it to FOH most of the time but for times when I don't have PA support will I be safe running it into my Abm 500 and Ampeg 810E as I don't wanna crank it and blow speakers trying to get it heard without PA and can it still give some oomph through a bass amp and do it safely? cheers

Again, use your brain and your ears. Yes, you can blow your woofers. But as long as you are being smart and conservative with your settings, you should be fine. You will know if and or when if you are pushing to hard. But yes, you can use it under normal circumstances with a regular type setup/rig. Just be smart about it. Also, remember to always use a light touch on your strings when you engage the pedal. That will make a big difference as well.

Otherwise i'll just stick to the plan of a COG T16 which I know is a completely different animal, just wanted to check I would be able to get the most out of the meatbox, though I never really have a light touch...

Haha I'm the same way man, especially in at a live gig. I play pretty heavy and aggressively. I had the Meatbox on my board for at least 7 or 8 months and recently took it off. I just wasn't using it. There were some gigs I could've but didn't. I'm of the mind that unless you have a good setup and use it often or at least gig out a lot in larger venues, it's not really worth the space. I mean, it is. But not really. Im with you too in that my POG2 or Bwhammy can give me the low low octaves I want without having to worry about damaging my speakers. But the Meatbox does have it's time and place. Just gotta make sure I set it up right. I actually have a mini DI and a Y splitter designated just for the Meatbox alone. Would love to use it one day.
