Meatbox reissue, huh?

Haha I'm the same way man, especially in at a live gig. I play pretty heavy and aggressively. I had the Meatbox on my board for at least 7 or 8 months and recently took it off. I just wasn't using it. There were some gigs I could've but didn't. I'm of the mind that unless you have a good setup and use it often or at least gig out a lot in larger venues, it's not really worth the space. I mean, it is. But not really. Im with you too in that my POG2 or Bwhammy can give me the low low octaves I want without having to worry about damaging my speakers. But the Meatbox does have it's time and place. Just gotta make sure I set it up right. I actually have a mini DI and a Y splitter designated just for the Meatbox alone. Would love to use it one day.
Yeah that's exactly what im thinking, I think I'll end up getting both and only run the meatbox if I can send it to FOH where the PA will be good enough to actually pump it out but for most cases use the T16

So...it really IS THAT good?...No con's and only pro's in terms of reviews?
Sorry...I have not read all the 33 pages but from what I read this thing seems to be quite something...yes?:)

...and what about the density hulk...?

Bringing this thread back from the abyss. :D

I just ordered a Meatbox off the net and going to see what this baby can do in a few days. My goals are to be able to play straight up for string bass but be able to reach the nether regions of a 5 string and below. I had two spinal surgeries and moved to a very light bass (7 pounds) but I need the low B so I strung it up BEAD but I have another project I'm looking at that requires the standard tuning EADG so I'm hoping this pedal can give me back the low stuff. Anyone think this is a good solution? And yes I will be using this into some massive Subs.

It's not a solution for a clean low B but it will make every other note BOOM. I love running my Meatbox RI after distortion so octave runs just sound massive. It solves the problem of anemic sounding higher notes very well, imo.

I'm hoping this will allow me to swap back to standard tuning. Anemic sounding higher notes are a problem as well. In my situation it seems some higher notes basically drop out of the subs due to the crossover point I suppose. This could be a real helper here to. I'm not looking for drastic tones just some extra help in the down younders.

That isn't at all what the Meatbox does, it is drastic and very noticeable. What you're talking about is more what you'd get from the DigiTech Bass Whammy or EHX Pitch Fork.

That said the market for Meatbox reissues is hot right now, they're going for over $300 so it is an easy sale if you want to get rid of it.

From watching all the video demos the affect can be mixed to taste can it not? I'm not at all interested in those other two pedals. The BW is too much real estate for my needs and I've had some bad experiences with EH/New Sensor products and they will not get any more of my money ever. That being said I have a Pitch Fork on my bench in for repairs, occasionally I repair stuff for friends. The desire for the Meatbox seems pretty hot and if it will give me what I seek I'll not be selling it. I purchased one off the Bay for $250.00  prolly the most I ever paid for a pedal.

I accidently ran 18volts to Meatbox but didn't fry it. Was I just extremely lucky or is Meatbox designed to handle more than 9v?
The schematic I have shows a number of 16V electrolytics so you got lucky; could blow 'em at 18V, just a matter of time. I would think if you upgraded those caps you could probably run it at 18V. FYI I was frustrated by the gain structure, being unable to get my primary signal to unity gain at desired levels of sub without cranking the 30Hz and 60Hz higher than I wanted to. I solved the problem by increasing R4 to 68k (doubled the gain on the blended signal).

So guys I need your help please. I got my Meatbox pedal today and I think there may be something wrong with it. I cant get unity gain out of the pedal from off to on unless I crank the output control and I mean almost dime it. The two HZ knobs seem to be working but the octave control doesn't seem to be doing that much. You can hear the effect when turning it up but not gonna come close to blowing any speakers.

Is there something wrong with this thing?

Sounds like it, this pedal is nigh impossible to be subtle - the volume/gain range is very extreme.

OK so after messing with this thing some more I think its working fine. The pedal pretty much has to be cranked to be unity gain which oddly enough does not appear to be adding any noise whatsoever which is making me think the taper is way off in this design on that pot? So its an odd sounding pedal for sure gonna take some stewing on this one but I got some cool tones out of it. Looking for more subtle which I can get. Settings are out there though, I'm one of those dim whits that want every knob set in the middle.

That's the way the original was and that's the way the reissue is. Try using less meatbox mix and find something stable from the 2 bands. It's a crazy pedal to set...it isn't made for bass amps, it's made for PA system subs to shake the building unless it's an underground room.

OK I think I'm understanding more now, I was expecting sparks and fire. :)
I'm guessing my amp is not capable developing intelligible notes so low down so it seems light in the britches on some settings. My amp is a GK MB 500 Fusion and my cabs a vintage GK Thiel Cabs with brand new Eminence Beta 12's in them.
