Mesa 810?

I just made an agreement to buy this cab locally. I haven't been able to test it but the seller says its in perfect working order. I won't be able to pick it up till next week so I won't know for sure till then. He sent me these pics however. I can't seem to find a cab exactly like this searching through Google. Was hoping someone could help me identify it. I think it's a Traditional 810 because it has no horn but the grill is black. The Traditionals I've seen on line have black/greyish grills. Anybody have one of these? Thanks

Go slowly, contact Mesa with whatever you have.
Custom cabs aren't unusual, you really want to know what impedance that cab is.
I've seen cabs built like that before, back when most people opted for the 2x15.
I hope you have a long bed truck, loading them is brutal.
Unless the cab is 100% right, priced low, don't feel bad about walking away.

Believe it or not he took off the serial sticker.....
...and what reason on earth would a person have for doing that, is the only thought that comes to mind. This is a huge red flag for me. When the only means of positively identifying a product is missing, yet all the brand badges (which can easily be purchased) are in perfect condition, I get really suspicious.

No need for a truck. A minivan, station wagon, or hatchback should do.

Indeed. Very suspicious. Even the one piece of totally custom gear I have still has a serial number.

It was always a pain to get my 8x10's in unless it was a straight shot. I never had a drummer that wasn't tossing something in with other guys, generally without asking. Something would always hang up, have to be adjusted, etc. and I'd end up tweaking my back. Picked up a Dodge truck, open bed is bliss.

I'm also really not liking the tag missing on that cab.

In my bands we generally let the owner of the vehicle dictate the loading system.

I prefer wagons or minivans for gear. Trucks are taller than I'd like, and way more engine than is needed for music gear, which isn't really that heavy, just bulky.

5.2, 5-spd, 3:90 gears, Pirelli Scorpion Zeros. It got better gas mileage than a Toyota Sequoia. I should have also mentioned that my Mesa cabs were all Road Ready. I wish they were Diesels or the naked cabs. Volvo and Taurus wagons are kinda ubiquitous, I just didn't like the headroom yanking cabs. The 72 Ampeg 8x10 I had was no picnic either.

I haunted stores with a lean toward used or vintage gear. Then I started working at them. I got to go thru everything and buy the stuff I liked at cost after I tucked it way out of the way. Cute trick, let stuff sit for longer than 60 days and buying it at cost (or approx low grade value) is always cool with the owner.

Flight cases sound really cool until the 2nd time you have to move it.

I guess for me, yeah, an Ampeg 810 weighs a lot... but not really more than a full grown man does.

My cab weighs 150 pounds, the head weighs 60. That's equivalent to having an adult and a large dog in the back seat. It's heavy, but it's not that heavy.

I'm done with big tube heads and big cabs. I hauled my Mesa 400 around naked bc in its case it was heavier than my SVT. If the OP has never had an 8x10 or a 2x15, driving it with a 200-300watt tube head really is an experience. You just have to do it once, bc you can keep up with a half stack or the heaviest handed drummer.

If someone else has to deal with my gear, cool. My buddy ran security at Maritime Hall. I worked the line when Mudvayne played around 2000 or 2001. I think that was one of the rare times I pulled out my Thumb and cranked up the Mesa. I was inspired by sound check. Every band brought big rigs, and it's a large venue. Really wanted to play a 5-string after that. Granted I slept thru the next day bc I'd spent an entire show catching fools stage diving and breaking up fights in the pits. But I did annoy my neighbors with SPL as soon as I was done pissing blood.

I love my big tube head and big cab. It's not actually that hard to move.

That is the Mesa 810 cab, Which is 4 Ohm, 1000 or 1200 watts?
It's hard to zoom in with the picture he provided. But it looks like it says 4ohms and 1200 watts.... The owner has different gear listed on craigslist and claims to have had a backline company. So I didn't really question him about the serial. He is selling and delivering it to me for $450 though. I spoke to him several times and he seemed sincere.... Maybe I'm naive.... Who knows?

I have several cabs now. I've been lucky finding them cheap lately. With my original band I've been using and Ampeg 6x10 or a very rare SWR 4x12. Both are monstrous! I am pretty excited about this one though! My main cab that I lug around most for cover gigs if needed is a GK Neo 212 which also sounds huge for its size and is pretty light and convenient to pack. And a lot of my gigs are in ears as well. But this cab will be a whole new experience for sure....!

I hear you!..... So can anybody ID this cab? Help!!!

If the guy will hold it for you until COB Monday, I'd call Mesa on Monday and see who you could send the photos to and what specifically they'd need in those photos to verify you have one of their products. That's all I got!
