Mesa/Boogie Titan V12 megathread!

In my older Silverface which is recently updated the fan is a bit noisy and always on. In my mind a bit too noisy for studio work. My newer Blackface (also have all the updates done recently) though is much more quiet. My recommendation would be to get the serial number for your potential new beast and call Mesa Boogie to get info about what's been done with it. Try getting a newer Blackface if you cant get the serial number or see it in person before buying it. An older Silverface without all the updates would probably be dead silent and work well in a studio environment since at least for me I only had issues when playing louder like in a live setting. Either way you wont be disappointed, its a really nice amp with a lot of sonic variations, and the overdrive, the overdrive! =)

Thank you Dalmasn, it's an older Silverface. I just tried it today for about 30minutes and it's really quiet - not fully driven and the output level around 2-3. This thing is loud!

Sounds good!! Mine worked just fine too up to about 2-3 but at the time I ran it with three cabs at 2 ohm. Anything above that with overdrive enabled it started to shut down. It was a thermal sensor and the psu among some other small stuff that needed to be upgraded. It was good enough volume for practice though. Now after upgrades it wrinkles most floors halfway up paired with my powerhouse 1000 =)

My Silverface Titan shut down once @ 2 ohms pushing 2 mesa 410 cabs in a tight flight case and started back up the next day when it had cooled down. I never had it serviced and its very quiet and I record with it all the time. Now I either use it in a case with two empty spaces above and below ... or at home I take it out of the case when recording.

Does anybody know what kind of rack is perfect for the TItan? I'm asking as yesterday my updated Titan kept on cutting out. I admit I moved it in a 8U rack without much space to breath. The rack was fully loaded. As workaround I first set the back switch to 2 ohms, it helped.
Then the drummer told me to move the wireless unit upper in an empty space to give the amp more space to breath. That helped too. But in the end I can see this amp really needs some space to breath.
Any advises on the most suitable rack for the Titan?

Absolutely, that's what I mentioned in my post. What I did was putting the amp back in its 6U rack case as I put a 220V fan on its side to extract the air when I was still using the non updated Titan.
I did a gig yesterday and the amp didn't even heat.
However, do you know if there are any rack cases that I could use without any fancy modification for the updated Titan?
I know the non updated will need this extra fan to keep it cool and prevent it from frying though.

I have mine in a basic Gator 6U rack with a furman in the top slot leaving an empty slot for airflow. I have one of those small clip-on fans connected to the furman and clipped on to the side of the rack running on the lower speed to always keep a good airflow above the titan. The good thing is that the fan fits in the case so wherever the case goes the fan goes with it.

Hey Baxter ...
Just stick it into the middle of any 8 space rack and that should give it plenty of room to breath...maybe a 6 space would be ok just be ok with space above and below...think of it like nostrils...they're important, Man! If someone stuck some thing up my nostrils I wouldn't get enough air either and I'd just have to sit and stop for awhile till I caught my breath. AIR...the BREATH OF LIFE...EVEN TITAN'S NEED AIR!!:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
