Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread 8

Well thanks everyone, appreciate the advice. Last time I played, the input gain was at about noon, and I never touched it at all. It was jut so damn good. Tubey, but rock solid and tight at the same time. Real quite between notes too, in terms of added content / noise coming through the signal chain.

I will be using the head through some custom tweeterless cabs based on the Faital pr200 8" monsters. The cabs will have 4 drivers in total. Thought about looking for a second match walkabout, get a full 600 watts + each running at 4 ohms, but I have heard such Good things about the walkabouts abilities into 2, I think it may be a waste.

A solid 500 watts of walkabout into 4 properly volumed Faital PR200 8s Should take some names.

Well, I will be sure to post when it is finished.

It all started a year or so ago. I was speculating doing a fearful rig, but making a head case with a mid that I could run full range as a combo. Basically, the original idea was to make a combo with two Faital pr200s with a carvin bx1500 on the front end. Use the active crossover to biamp with a fearful 15 sub for stage rig, and use the combo and run full range for smaller stuff. The beauty of an active crossover.

Well,
A few things happened, A, I didn't want to stray from the fearful design...it's done really well, B, I don't necessary need or desire super low bass, 4 string percussive / chop style player, usually prefer a bit less super low with more push in the low mids, C, I found the walkabout, and that changes everything.

Another thing is, my real goal was a super small combo, that could grow into a full blown stage rig. I don't really do the in between gigs. I usually practice at home quietly, or go to lots of writing sessions in apartment setting. Then, it's big bar gigs, stage gigs.

I started hearing about the Faital and the crazy 8 and my goals can now be met. Basically instead of two small double 8s, a small 1x8 combo that I can use daily and for writing, and. 3x8 extension that turns tiny into massive.

We'll see. A bit more deigning now that the head changed to this beauty.

But I'm excited. Real excited.

Hmm, I'm not sure. However, I seem to recall it being said they fit on top of the 15, but are wider than the 12!

Great deal on that WA, congrats and enjoy! If you don't want the rack ears, someone here will buy them for sure now that they are no longer available.

Headcase is the same width as a Scout 12 and stacks supermely on either the 12 or 15.
