My understanding was that the DI came after both tubes, so if one was to use the DI from amp 1 to feed amp 2 then the second amp would actually have 3 tubes in the circuit. I defer to your knowledge on that though!

I was talking about using the effects send into the effects return, not using the DI out.

There is a modification necessary the Walkabout if using the effects send opens the normalling circuit. This is on the earlier versions but I don't know when it was changed. A custom cable will also do the same thing without modifying the amp.

Cool- I was just adding to the conversation about feeding the Return of amp 2 with the DI of amp 1 since that was my suggestion (and something I have done with a Walkabout into another amp)

Yep. You're in the right spot.
Only the Marshall thread goes to 11.

Talkbass used to limit the number of posts per thread, hence the chapters up to 10, but that changed many years ago so this is now the eternal Walkabout Megathread! I think the news that the Mesa Subway WD800 was gonna be the new replacement for the Walkabout did take some of the wind out of this thread's sails. I still own and love my Walkabout 15 combo though, even alongside a Mesa TT800. Been considering trying to swap my TT for a WD honestly, as the Walkabout tone is still my favorite in a hybrid bass amp.

Thanks all! I still have and love my WA along with a WD800. Was just refining the number of threads I am watching in Talkbass and wanted to be sure I kept the most recent WA thread.

Here's a family picture of mine in a newly acquired 15" cab with a WD800 (in bag) and my beloved '64 B-15. The WA doesn't gig anymore or even get out of the house as it's butt-heavy in the combo and the WD800 is more powerful and practical. But the WA sounds great in that cab for practice, rehearsals and jams. Full and meaty. It doesn't get lonely staying home - the B15 doesn't get out much either.

Bought a WA combo in 2007 (silver face/brown). I later sold the cab and the amp plays second fiddle to my two tube amps, but I can't imagine selling it. It still sounds great, and it's my sole lightweight(-ish, these days) option.

Well, it may be more chatter than news that I gig a Walkabout Scout 112, sometimes with my "rescue" Avatar 112 cube extension. Picture from last Saturday night at Six Springs Tavern in Richardson, Texas. I love this amp!

You could probably improvise with a luggage handle, but you might want to try Mesa first. My handle broke several years ago and Mesa sent me a replacement. I don't recall how much it was, maybe $30 or $40?

After owning this for years I finally got around to cleaning the effect loop Jacks to eliminate the need to have a cable between them to get sound out of it.

then I hooked it up to my Henry the 8x8. Beautiful.
