Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread part Four!

Mesa: yes. About a week for bench time, travel time depends on how you send it.
Service Centers, I imagine, would be pretty variable.

I usually trim back the lowest 2 sliders a tad, or bump up at 150 or 300 Hz. Depends how I feel on that day and what the room is like, etc. I would be willing to bring my rig to Mtl (I have a place in NDG) for you to test drive, but you won't be able to spank it at gig volume in my basement without having to replace the windows, LOL. There are a couple of other local TBers with whom I have had a few GTG who might also be interested. The downside is that it'd have to wait for Nov 'cause I'm booked solidly at work for Oct. Pm me if you're up for it.

Overall I do not think the graphic is necessary, just nice.

Thanks for your answer, and for your offer. I don't go to Montreal alot myself, so thanks anyway.

But if there'll be a GTG in Montreal, I'm in for sure.

Anybody have any experience with turnaround time for an amp sent to Mesa or a Mesa service center?

I bought a new floor demo Walkabout Scout in January and it died in April. I called M/B and the tech suggested I send it back to the factory. The preamp pot was replaced, circuitry was updated to the single input + switch, I got it back in 29 days (I'm including shipping) and it has performed flawlessly since.

And, even if it didn't, I'm still in love with the sound!:D

Thanks lpd -- I boxed mine up today, and it's off to Mesa tomorrow. I've spent some time on the phone with Mesa customer service recently, and they've been 100% friendly and helpful. I'm not happy to lose the amp for a month or so, but feel good about sending it back to the mother ship for a checkup and a clean bill of health.

the rack cases section, which right now is "file 404"

So does FILE 404 mean "NO GO"?? Coz I'm getting a 'error' & yes a 404 mentioned.... When I looked earlier there wasn't anything in that section, but maybe coz it's 'error-ing'?? I Dunno- I'm not great on computer bit's n pieces.

I just know that the RACK CASE for a walkabout can't be found by ME at this point in time. :bawl:

I DID email Mesa re, so will see if they reply.:help:

Thanx again anyway Chef.

Error 404 means the page you're trying to get doesn't exist. It's most likely that's an old link that doesn't work anymore after some website update they did at some point.

Bottom line is, there's no info on that stuff on their web site currently. Could be a simple web site problem or it could be they discontinued that accessory.

Call them.

They make the headcase which is 299 and offer a rackmount kit (ears) for 49.

So my latest GAS seems to be wanting to try out some 12s. I'm currently running my WA through the SVT 210AV, and I'm thinking about getting another one for a vertical stack, but before I do that, I want to weigh some other options. I'd more than likely get two seperate 1x12s for modular reasons.

What 12s would be a good match for the WA head? Excluding the Scout cab of course, because I've already heard all the goodness there is to hear about it! One in particular I've considered is the Aguilar DB112.

IME you should not overlook the Wizzy 12s (not the M-lines) which sound very thick with the WA and a little bass goosing. I opted for the Scouts because they are tuned lower than any other single 12s I've tried.
