Anyone ever had to send there scout in for a speaker, I just noticed mine is making a hissing type noise when I play a A note on the e string. Eq everything at noon, vol at 10-11, horn off. P bass with flats, jazz with rounds. I just bought it in Feb, would the speaker be covered? Thanks for any insight.

Did you try all of the effects loops, dirty input/speaker jack tricks?

One word..."Deoxit"

back panel, 3 screws down each side, holds the head in place.
there's some foam strips that can sack out, and allow the panel to vibrate...

The Blue one is specifically IXP-54-14B, IIRC. I didn't know this, but this fan is available at Frys for $9.99 if you can find one.

Cool. Thanks. I'll probably go with the non-LED version. Although I imagine it might be kinda handy on dark stages.(?) Does it help finding DI/speaker outs in low light?

Having a hell of a time trying to find a distributor that ships to Australia. Really surprising - I woulda thought the PC Hotrodding community would have a big market. Their specs are the best I've seen.

Did you try tigerdirect? I think that's who I got mine from.

I believe it's covered only for 1 or 2 years, not the full 5 that covers the head. You can have an authorized sevice center do the replacement. I had mine replaced while I had updates done to my WA head (voice coil was buzzing). I paid for the speaker and they swapped it out at no additional cost. You can just order the speaker from Mesa's site for about $100 and I learned that it's a very simple replacement - just unscrew and clips, no soldering needed. Good luck!

By reading this thread I get the impression that Mesa WA have some issues.
Too bad, I love the layout of the amp.
My 1997 Eden WT400 has had no issues since then.

Any amp thread will get people writing in with problems. On the whole the W.A is pretty bulletproof. It's a tried and tested design and they're built like tanks.

FWIW I had a hell of a time with an Eden 550WT and those dang scratchy notched pots. SOLD.

The earlier Walkabouts with no fx send/return bypass, and dual inputs (versus a single switched input) had some issues with jacks oxidizing.
Cleaning the jacks is a quick fix.
Having the unit updated to current spec is a better fix, and cheaply done.

I'd rather have small, easily dealt with issues-that might not even happen to you-than the whole wt1205 flameout issues, and a company that wouldn't stand behind a total meltdown.

If you bought it new, it's got a 5 year warranty.
Is the store local to you? Take it back.

replacing the speaker is indeed an easy job, if it's the issue.

I know I'm starting to sound like a cheerleader, but I finally had an opportunity to plug my Fender '51 P RI in the WAS. Still the same great tone as with the split-coil, and the same personality, just thumpier and with a little less sustain. :hyper:

Chef,
I took the head out and ran it, still the buzzing, how hard is it to replace the speaker if need be and do you know if it would be covered, bought new in Feb. Thanks

Replacing the speaker is a 5 minute job requiring only q screwdriver to take off the grille. If I can do it, anyone can.
