Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread Pt. Tres

Definitely time to call your tech for service. Is the power actually going on and off or is the audio portion just cutting in and out? Sounds like a fuse/resistor/board problem to me.

It sounded like the speaker enable relay flipping on and off. The power remained on and the tubes staid lit.

I brought it to Savage Audio that next morning. They are an authorized repair center and I bought it new in 2007 so I'm hoping it will be fixed at no cost to me.

I've changed the fan out and I've changed the light bulb/dome jewel.

My walkabout has all blue lights now.

Check it out:

Jeez, I mean, that's really freakin' bright in there!

that's kewl.

quiet?
feel the same operating temp at 2 ohms?

I may need to put a few of those fans under my scion.

Yeah, it's MUCH quieter. You can still hear the air passing through the grates, but there is much less of that hum that you would typically here. I don't know if it's running hotter at 2-ohms yet. I haven't really pushed it. I left it plugged in with a 2-ohm load for about an hour the other day and it seemed fine and no hotter than usual.

I don't think just having a load plugged in will generate the same heat that pounding on it for a set or two will...
Those rear shots are pimp.

Leave your amp backwards on stage from now on;)

(and thx, if you find the red jewel!)

Should be, under the 5 year warranty....

I'm hoping so after all I did replace the factory tubes with JJ tubes. This voids the warranty because they aren't "official" Mesa tubes. Even though they sound so much nicer. I'm hoping the tubes have nothing to do with the problem so they won't be a factor in deciding warranty coverage.

Hey Guys,

Wanted to let you know I'm going to try the Silex Fan mod for the heck of it. I just got the fan today.

It's weird, on the front it says 28CFM but on the back on the specifications, it says 32CFM. Regardless, I'm going to give it a whirl.

Vic may be getting a PM on some help if I can't get it running properly.

Is this the right one?

Just put your old mesa tubes back in... provided you kept them.

Anyone ever had to send there scout in for a speaker, I just noticed mine is making a hissing type noise when I play a A note on the e string. Eq everything at noon, vol at 10-11, horn off. P bass with flats, jazz with rounds. I just bought it in Feb, would the speaker be covered? Thanks for any insight.
