I gotta say, after several months of using nothing but my M9 and loving it, I'm back to using the walkabout. it's just a really delightful amp, and I really like it. with the brighter sadowsky basses I've been using lately, it takes that "edge" and morphs it into something very organic that i like quite a bit.

I have covers for almost all my amps -- I call 'em "burqas." No longer married, so I have no need for deception BUT I kept all my amps, back in the day, in my recording studio, not in the home. Kinda prevented the subject from coming up.:D

Can you plug the Walkabout head into the B15 cab? I'm curious what you think about the tone compared to the B15 head.

I have a Walkabout head and was considering buying a Vintage-Blue B15 cabinet for it.

ANY Word on the comparison between the B15 & the WA scout??

Where I live I don't think they'd even be a RI B15 (B-15R) let alone a '60's model. So I'm NOT gonna hear one in the near future....-not 'live' anyways.

I HAD a V4BH & basically sold it to finance MY WA Scout 12" combo (8ohm) & I don't regret that swap at ALL. I've still got a Traynor YBA200 & AMPEG SVTII to keep me "tubularly happy"
But I DO find the WA Scout combo to be SUPERBLY 'vintage' sounding & I LOVE that. Also the Semi-Para EQ is great- altho as many others- I dont USE it that often. BUT when it IS necessary- BOY is it handy.

I had a gig at a great function centre a cuppla weeks ago- We often play there & when we do, we USUALLY play to one side of the room, facing DIAGONALLY outward the crowd/room- which -IME - helps to minimise unwanted sound reflections.

But THIS last time we had to play at the other end of the room (for a wedding & they HAD to have EVERYTHING JUST as they wanted-of course ;-) & we were in the centre of the end of the room, facing directly toward the other end wall. Wasn't a problem as there were about 300 ppl filling up the room. BUT.......:rollno: ALWAYS a 'but' isn't there :hmm:
..... there was a 'bass trap' or something-I dunno the technical term/s.

- but Bb's were ringing out like CRAZY!!! & B's & C's were only marginally better. Even the drummers tom(which must've been tuned near Bb) was 'blooming' :scowl:

so - thankfully- I was able to dial OUT the pesky freq's without sacrificing TOO much of my tone.
Another reason why I LOVE my WA Scout.

BTW this particular night, I was using the WA SCOUT & a Bergantino AE112 as an extension cab- a combination which I find works really well. :hyper:

a vintage blue cab with a delta 15a in it, however, would be pretty forgiving of that kind of wattage, even though it still wouldn't be a huge low end monster in comparison to a 410hlf or a subwoofer. but i have a vintage blue double baffle cab, and i hgihly recommend it and mark's work. absolutely beautiful.

and i could easily see a walkabout head working well with it. even though people think i might consider it a sacrilege, there was a while where i would pair up my b-15 cabs with a markbass lmii ;) still pair them with a crate power block occasionally.

Speaking as a former owner of a 1963 B15N and the current owner of a bronco creme WAS, there ain't NO comparison. The Ampeg was twice as heavy, had barely over 1/10 the wattage, pumped out Chernobyl-level heat, and required constant and expensive maintenance, partly because Everitt Hull was a fool for the latest "trick" tubes -- that are no longer made.

In contrast, the Mesa/Boogie sounds better, has an actual warranty, and runs cools. Did I say sounds better than a B15N? I meant, better than anything.

I love my Walkabout. I wouldn't take the Ampeg back as a gift.

you wouldn't be prone to ridiculous levels of exaggeration to make a point, would you?
