Chef, any idea on how much wattage the WA is putting out while running at 2ohms?

I dig it! How about an option for a 4 ohms WA 2x10 combo. Pair that with another 2x10 and BAM!

Now THAT would be a helluva combo amp/rig!

Beginning to get intrigued about WA and looking at used opportunities - can anyone give a chronology/timeline of red, silver, and black face models so I know about how old the amp is?

I'm looking fwd to hearing your take on whether the Titan does Walkabout tone at higher power.

one 4x10 and I believe a 15....WOW!! that head is AMAZING...
it really like big cabs to flex it muscles! I didn't like the tweeter..if it had one...sounded like it. no tweeter control. but niiiiice....play on friends!

If one of the 10s or the 15 had a red dome (vs. a black one) then there was a tweeter present.

I briefly owned a Bag End D12X-D which is a 2x12 with a tweeter. I didn't care for the cabinet at all, but I'm finding that I just don't like 12s for bass. I'd probably love the 4x10 or the 4x10 plus a 1x15.

I played through a Walkabout today at the very GC you speak of (Fountain Valley). I so want one of those...what a great sound! It blew the GK, Markbass, Acoustic, and other brands away!
I talked to the dude at the M/B store in Hollywood a few minutes ago; they have many Walkabouts, new in boxes, ready to go. I'm also thinking about getting the extension 12" cab. It'll take it down to 2 ohms, but I'll never crank it enough to overheat it.

If you're concerned about the ohm loading; you can get the 8 ohm extension, and split the diff at 2.67.
this works especially well with a 15" extension.

Ok guys........I got my amp! It worked great, for about 10 min.

I started to put it through the paces; check all the pots, try the FX loop, try it through the tuner and BAM, shes down for the count.

For a bit, the sound would drop 95%. It was just loud enough that you could hear something going on. Twice, it very quickly came back to life when the volume pot was turned vigorously. But now, nothing.

Also, when I was trouble shooting the rig, and trying to eliminate the cabinet being the culprit (thats a whole 'nother issue *steaming*) the DI was working ok, and BAM, it stoped producing any sound what-so-ever.

Now, all I get is power, fan, and barely glowing tubes.

FWIW, the guitar center warehouse guy did ship it really well. Lots of medium density foam and bubble wrap galore. Not that cheap ass popcorn stuff.

Thoughts? Ideas? Sympathy?

Also, is there any way to date the Mesa WA's? I don't see a serial number or any QI signatures. I'm trying to find out if this was built in the last 5 years (warranty inquiry.)

try patching across the fx send and return.
sometimes those jacks oxidize, and start being snotty about passing a signal.
(even if you're not using an effect, this can be a troublemaker)

if you have CAIG or another appropriate cleaner, try cleaning the fx send and return jacks, and the input jack. this can be done with very fine emery paper rolled in a tube, inserted in the jacks, and twisting/pushing in and out.

if you have spare tubes, try replacing them; one at a time.

power down for all this, of course....

I can't tell you how many times I read this in the megathread version one and two, but sure as snot, that was it! Chef, has anyone told you recently that you are the man?

Now I need to wait until tomorrow am to really put this beast to test.

With the gain almost all the way, mids cut to 11:00, bass and treble at 1:00.....this beast CRAVES a PH 1x15. The 2x10 can't quite hang with all that punch.

I have both and the Titan does do the WB tone.
The BB750 also sounds like the WB too.
