Mesa Boogie Walkabout Part 6

Hello All Fellow Walkabout owners. I have been lurking this forum since october when I was (extremely) lucky enough to score a near new WA Scout 12 for $1500 AUD ( more than $3500 new in OZ ).
So love it, gigged it exclusively, no need to preach to the choir here. I straight away swapped the 4ohm speaker for an 8ohm (Mesa Delta 12) to match all the cabs I had access to in my quest for that "just a bit more volume and tone" with mixed results. As new hi end cabs are expensive in Australia, I am actively researching about building either a BMF Jack 12 or a fearful 12/6 with the original 4ohm 12" speaker. (or swapping them back if that works out for better loading) I have been all over Mesa, Eminence, TB, Bill Fitzmaurice,fEARful, etc, websites trying to find out specifically, if there is any major difference between the Mesa 12' speakers and the various 12" Eminence drivers recommended for BFM Jacks or fEARfuls cabs.
So any ideas, opinions, speculations or even facts would be much appreciated.
I have enjoyed reading and absorbing all the info here and other related threads so thanks to all who have contributed.

After trying (what seems like) every 12" cab in the known universe:rollno:, I have settle on an LDS nEarful 12/6, 15/6 stack.
If there is anyone around you who has a 15/6, try your combo on top of it and be amazed :-)

Thanks Chef, I thought that might have been the case but wasn't quite sure. I'll have to redo the costing, fEARful might still be the way to go when compared to cab prices in Australia. Anyone know if the mesa speaker would do the Jack 12. I have the plans but need the speaker specifications to select the length of the vent duct.

I've been around the block and now I'm back again.
Sold my Walkabout 112 and Ext 112 a year ago. Since then I have been through a host of gear, both borrowed and purchased.
PJB-BG 800, GK MB Fusion, Bergantino NV610(LOVE this, was more than I needed), Mesa Venture 212, GK 1001RB Neo212 combo, GK MB212(keeping for rehearsals), Markbass 102P( yuck)
Markbass Jeff Berlin(liked, but no Walkabout).
I spoke with my dude at GC today and his Mesa rep had a Walkabout in Wine tolex with tan juke screen ready to ship at last years price, so I agreed and ordered a matching Scout 112 Ext cab to match, at last years price.
I play Sm to Lrg clubs and outdoor, and this combo has pulled it off. I normally always have PA support for outdoor gigs. The MB Fusion with the Berg sounds superb, yet still like the WA more. I was constantly told to turn down with that rig.
The WA is 8 ohm and the Ext will be 8 ohm also. I know everyone runs them at 2 ohms, but reliability and piece of mind win out with me.....and......I can always add another cab.
Glad to be back home in tone.

Cool. I've visited the "you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone" place too many times before :-)

The MBFusion is a great head, it's one I own and use a lot.

It's not as rich in harmonic content as the Walkabout, and the eq isn't as nice either (though it works well).

After major surgery in early December, I'm back to playing, even though I have to get to the gig in a wheelchair. I hadn't played since late September, and it was quite a treat hearing my Walkabout live again. With the two 16 lb G-B 10T speakers I can actually set everything up myself. I do have to get to the gig early....:D

If i have a the regular walkabout scout scout 1x12 combo.. should i get a 4 ohm radiator cab or a 8 ohm.. or does it matter?/

I think the walkabout scout has a 4 0hm.. so that would push it to 2 ohm...

can i mix an 8 and 4.. recommendations?

Or if anyone can recommend a single CAB to get that would be good.. maybe a 300 watt 4ohm cab.. just 1

My 02: get a nice 4 Ohm 212 and that will give you 3 cab options. Single 12, pair, or 3 of a kind :-)
