I too am a fan of the 50 hz cut on the WA, especially with the combo cab. But I'm wondering how you might boost anything below 200 to put some fat back if you are using the bass para to cut at 50-60? My para mid only goes down to 200 (it's a blackface) - do earlier WAs have different para eq parameters?
You can turn up the bass knob while cutting at 50 to get some pretty sweet fatness that doesn't overwhelm. Of course, a lot of that will depend on your bass and technique as well.
With my P bass played with a pick, I usually run the bass knob flat, cut a little at 50hz, and boost at 250 for some thick low-mid punch. I generally cut the high knob a hair and cut a little bit at 1.6k to tame those harsh upper mids. Then on the bass I roll the tone down to 7 or 8 to taste, and bash away with my pick! Gain is usually set somewhere around 1 pm for some nice nastiness.
