Mesa M6 Carbine Mega Thread part 3:

I just got my M6 a few days ago from a fellow TB'er, and it sounds great. The first thing I noticed is it is LOUD. Nudging the volume off zero just a smidge gets real loud real fast. I've been using a little mark II and BX500, and while both are comparable in wattage rating, don't seem to be as loud as this thing.

Tone sounds great though. I especially like the 5 way rotary that gets you 5 very distinct sounds easily.

sweet lookin AE/m6 rig, wow!

Jerry, that pedal is awesome! IMO mesa should really include a footpedal when you buy a carbine, one that takes full advantage of the great sounding presets.

I just got back from testing my M6.

Oh.

My.

Word.

This thing KILLS!!! I was a bit worried about how it'd sound with my SVT-410HLF, but it is a great combination! I think the HLF has become a crucial part to *my* sound. The best thing is, I can run the master at 1/3 the volume of my Nemesis 410 combo and the gain at half. It sounds sooooooo much cleaner. I actually found voice 3 (flat) to be my favorite so far; won't know til i hear it with the whole band. Dear Mesa, I'm hooked.

I just knew that you would.

When I first tested the M6 was with an Ampeg SVT-410hlf in a GC. Gosh it sounded great....and they told me it was nice and clear at the other end of the store.:hiding:

I will have to agree with just about everyone on here !My Fathom is one of the best amps I have owned over all my years and I,m a Old sucker and have had a lot of amps .I think for me position #4 works the best for me.Very simple EQ section and just sounds Great!

Nice! They had it hooked up to a Mesa 212 at mine, which was a good combo too, but if I ever went that route it'd have to be 2 212's. To be honest, the first bass I played thru the M6 at the store was a Squier P-bass special. I may have to pick it up because that's how I fell in love.

Hey guys, did a search but didn't find anything. Do we know if the carbine's power amp can be accessed directly by using the effects return? or is it like the walkabout where the effects return sends the signal through the second preamp tube before it hits the power section, resulting in a very walkabout-y tone regardless of whether you're using the regular input or the effects return.

Essentially, on the rare occassion that I want one, can I get an un-coloured tone out of this thing?

Boy....I just don't see the volume pot tapers as an issue, for me.
Yeah, the "pull master volume to mute" is kinda dumb, but it's not all that hard to just put the volume back where it was.
At least for me.
YMMV, of course.

Yeah, I'm also not really a fan of the pull mute, but it's also not really been much a problem for me, either.

For some reason I was thinking that there was a "pre-in/pre-out" but I was wrong. I'm betting that the effects loop is not direct to the power section.
