Mesa M6 Carbine Mega Thread part 3:

Back in with the M6. It's my third one, and I think it'll stick this time. Should never have moved the first one, just chasing a tone I guess. It's a monster through my Carvin RL410.

I had an M6 and really liked it. Ran it with either a Mesa ph410, ph610 or a ph412. I sold it to a buddy who kept bugging me for it. If I ever run across one of the later ones I’d probably pick it up. Tons of power, many tone choices and slam.

Anyone using pedals with their M6/M9? I had an VT Bass and Darkglass VMT at practice tonight and after trying a few things, left them both off all night. . .

VT Bass V2, Tone Hammer and BDDI V2 all work quite nicely with Carbines IME.

That top end sheen is probably the number one thing I like about the M3/6/9 amps.

Doesn’t the excessive fan noise bother anyone ? Every one I’ve tried had a constant loud fan noise. Made it useless for recording unless the head could be isolated.

Ive had my carbine for years now. I definitely hear fan noise when i power it up, but by the time i turn up and start playing its a non issue. Ive recorded with it using a line out and a mic placed by the cab and no issues, it sounds great.

I have a B100R that is a perfect (IMO) Yin to the M6’s Yang. No fan & ideal for low volume stuff.

I have a huge Aguilar 4U softcase that takes too much space, but let the amp breath (I run mine at 4 ohm).
Are there 2U racks that would let the amp breath on top ? I am thinking of buying a cheap 2U rack and saw the top open but there may exist some better options...

I think there was about 3/4” air on top. I ran an M9 and a GK 1001 as well too.

Not if they still make it but my M9 lives in 3U SKB hard case and my M3 lives in a 3U "short" Gator hard case. I use a 1U vent panel above the heads to allow additional air flow and give it a professional look. My M6 is in a Mesa headcase that I think weighs more than the amp, but it looks cool.

Looks like an NV215 under that M3...I'll bet that set-up sounds killer and never runs out of steam. I've always liked the way Mesa chose to voice the M3 and with that Berg cab I'll bet you get a very full, strong a punch that sits perfectly in a mix.

absolutely.

the deep, tight n bright m3 voice gets plumped up a touch by the 215 to my ear. Adds warmth through the mids too and shaves down that upper mid presence these amps are known for. Loving the combination.

got both for a steal locally too which makes it even sweeter.
