Mesa M6 Carbine Mega-Thread Pt Deux

I finally got to try out a couple of M6's over the past two weeks, and I gotta say, I'm really impressed with it.
After testing some yellow amps and not diggin em, I plugged into an M6 for the first time and simply melted to the floor. They have a pretty awesome sound, and I loved the stone simple eq layout; I liked the mid shift set flat.
So far I've tried em through a PH410 and a PH212, sounded great. But I'd sure like to drag my old diesel cabs in there to see how it sounds.
I sure wouldn't mind eventually picking one of these up.

Do you know where can I find information about frequency response of PH cabs? Is there a difference in frequency response between 210 and 410 cabintets?

My Fathom is still alone and I'm looking at PH210 cab. Is it enough as a stand alone cab for small gigs? I use an octave down pedal so I need cabinet that can handle it.

If any 2x10 would do the gig for you, it would be the PH210. That cab is very big and deep sounding, but still punchy and very articulate. It's one of my favorite 2x10's, for sure.

I've had the chance to play my M6 through several pretty nice cabs (Epi UL410, Berg AE410, NV610, HT322, Genz 212UB). From what I've heard it should be stellar through a Berg HS410 with it's focused lows and smooth upper mids. Anyone gig with the M6/HS410 or had a chance to try it out?

I've played tons of gigs with my 2x10 PH, on 5 and 6 string as well as using an octave pedal = no problemo...:cool:

I can't find a better sounding 2x10 and I've tried them all.... :cool::cool:

I ran my M6 with 2-HS210s and it sounded great. I also use it with a EPI UL410 S2 which is bigger sounding, but not as tight. If you want it to cut like the bergs then flip the mid setting on the M6 to #4.:bassist:

As far as paring up the M6 with Diesel cabs, that's a great combo. I've owned a 210 and 115 diesel and own a Fathom. Oddly enough, when I got my PH212, I had my 210+115 Diesel cabs on consignment, I used to noodle at work on that setup (head and cabs) and dug it. I was just about to take that cabs back at the end of the day when someone bought them in the afternoon. Always the way, right? Anyway, I added a PH210 to top the PH212 and would not hesitate to use just the 210 on small gigs. I used the Diesel 210 and a Titan for gigging for a long time. Worked great! I do like the Fathom's voicing alot more though. It has more pop to it. The Titan is a great amp, but the M6 is the one for me. I also thought I'd still miss the Diesel with the EV's, but the PH210 was very impressive, and I don't think I lost a thing having this instead of the Diesel.

I just picked up thehurlatron's M6...looking forward to hearing it at a gig through my 2 AE210's. I wish it weighed like my LMII, but you can't have everything :smug:

Is the EPI much bigger sounding with the head, or is there only a slight difference?

Much bigger sounding. Very noticeable. But like Cory said, it's not as mid focused, which gives you a tighter sound from the AE's. Even more so with his HS's.

That's funny I picked up his HT112ER. I am sure Vic will want to hear this one.

Vic is right on. Epi UL410 is bigger then AE210 or HS210 stack, but more so with the HS210 stack. That HS210 Stack is really a low mid punch monster that sounds great in the mix. I just found a very potent combo for the M6 though........HS210 stacked ontop of the UL410:bassist::bassist:
