Mesa M6 Carbine Mega Thread

Tried a fathom in Helsinki, It was amazing. Used a Powerhouse 1200 4x10+1x15. Better than the SVT and 8x10 I have used as the benchmark of good tone.
Got a used 1516 Diesel cab(350£) and B2R to do me until I can afford the M6 and 1200 cab next year. There was a v12 in the shop too, but I didn't want to try it incase I loved it and overloaded my credit card yet again!
Only gripe I have is its pull mute always adjusts the knob unintentionaly??!!???**WHY! Gonna use my rack tuner tho....
Liked the M600 and combo 2x12 very much too.

Thought I would do a little follow up...

Mesa tested the amp and a mosfet was bad... they replaced it but that brought forward another issue, so they are just sending me a new one instead of messing around.

Parts fail... it's unfortunate, but it's going to happen. It's just nice to know that Mesa takes customer service very seriously.

While this was all going on... I was dreading having to play any other amp. The Carbine really sounds great... and fits my style quite well. I used my cousin's walkabout in the interim and it did a fine job... but it's no Carbine.

I really think the Carbine sounds like a cross between a Big Block 750 and a GBE750... warm and tight... with a little more headroom than either... and it's definitely no one trick pony.

I have an AE210. I tried a M6 with an AE210 in the store and I also tried the M6 with a Mesa 210 cabinet.
IMO the M6 sounded better with the Mesa 210 ! Not that it sounded bad with the AE210, it was just a different sound. I think the AE210 has more lows and highs and the powerhouse 210 has more mids.

That doesn't sound too bad as mids are not something that I lack. I wonder if you EQ'd out the lows and the highs a bit if the cabs would've sounded similar. I haven't been a fan of Mesa 10s.

Tom,
Did you try the M6 Carbine through an AE410? If so, how does it sound? I am considering this combination.

Okay, looking at my notes, I was impressed with the high end clarity and presence of the M6 though the AE410, and I liked using the Deep circuit and Voicing options to add some fullness and richness to the low end. The combo was tight and clear from top to bottom.

In the course of drafting the reviews for issue #1, I played a bunch of different heads through a bunch of different cabs, and the M6/AE410 made my short list of some of my favorite combinations.

Tom.

Tom,
That's cool to hear. I am thinking about retiring my Alembic F1-X/Crest CA-9 rig in favor of something simpler and lighter. The M6 Carbine struck me as something I'd be interested in. I would think with one of the voicings I could get a similar tone to the Alembic with a bit more quickness.

The Alembic will be naturally more rich and creamy, and the M6 will be naturally more tight, clean and articulate. There is certainly some room for warming it up, but on the whole, the M6 Carbine is not as full/warm/round as the M-Pulse line.

That still sounds good to me. I'm not a huge fan of the M-Pulse line. I think the lows are too bloomy. It sounds like the M6 is a step in the right direction for me.
