Mesa M6 Carbine Mega Thread

One of the local shops has the combo version, not sure if it's 210 or 212. But the branding on it still says FATHOM. From the ads I've seen in Bassplayer, they rebranded it to CARBINE because of a name infringement issue.

I guess some of these got released with the old branding??

Anyhow, I tried it and one of the speakers was distorting so I stopped. The guy said he'd inform the manager and they'd try to get another one in for demo.

Hope to check out when they do.

I tried it a week or two ago. I use a Walkabout head and I thought the Carbine was a little to aggressive for my taste, I liked the Mpulse much better for "my sound". I was playing thru a Mesa 210 and 115 stack.

Yes - you need to subscribe...free subscriptions available.

I read the review AFTER I tried it, good review.

Anyway, I tried the M6 with a 2x10, a 2x12 and a 4x10. Best sound was with the 2x10. So the cure for me would be to get the M6 and 2 (or 3!!!) 2x10 Mesa cabs.

I also tried with the AE210 (since I already have one) and it sounded good, but not as good (or should I say "as matched") as the Mesa 210.

For me the M6 and the Mesa 210 was putting out the most perfect aggressive kind of sound. I really loved it.

Seems like it impressed you guys, and got some pretty high marks from the bench.

It did, on both counts.

Just keep in mind, this amp has a different voicing from the M-Pulse line (and was intended to have its own voice), so if you find yourself not liking the aggressively articulate, clear tone of the M6, and want some more tube warmth and grit, you may want to give the BB750, M-Pulse 600, or Titan V-12 a try. And of course, the Walkabout is still one of my personal favorites.

I like the M6 very much. It's just a different flavor of good.

Tom.

+1000

I tried the M6, Titan V12 and M-pulse 600, all with the different mesa cabs. Totally Different flavors. I like the M6 A LOT, specially with the Mesa210. VERY agressive. I am just thinking about weight and size issues that I currently do not have. :)

Guys, I am under extreme gas pain for a M6 and a powerhouse cab...

I live in the third floor of a walk-up building, please make me change my mind!!!

Won't be able to help you there. I live on the third floor of a walkup and I just picked up a M6 combo with the 2x12. Worth the weight!

Even at just under 100 lbs total it wasn't *that* bad, although it would have been easier with a little help. Once you get it up stairs and plug it in, you forget all about the weight.
