Just guessing but most likely Heart Stoppingly Awesome.

YMMV

Cheers,

Mr. BEAR

+1.

It sounded that way through the Powerhouse 212 I demo'd mine through in the store, and it sounds even more heart-stoppingly awesome through my VPH810.

But, since I've never played through that particular Bergantino cab, I can only guess as well.;)

Lovin this setup right now, it sounds amazing. The tone and feel of the M6 kind of reminds me of my old HBP1/CA9 rack. After playing lightweights like the LMII for over a year, that traditional power supply type mojo feels reeeeeaaaally nice, and I realized that as much as I love the LMII, I miss that feel. Plus the agressiveness of the DJ and M6 balances perfectly with the el whappo IMO.

Ooooh! Good call on the M6/El Whappo combination! I can definitely see how those two would compliment each other. Very nice.

Very nice Jake!

I'm still thinking that the Carbine with a 212 Glock would be unreal...........and no, I'm not a gun owner.

I'm still very interested in the Carbine.

One question though -- I noticed that there are separate footswitch jacks for the mute and the 4 other shaping functions. Is there a footswitch made with more than one button and a separate jack for each button? I think I'd probably be OK with just one of the shaping functions, but I'd rather not have to tote more than one footswitch pedal unit. I really like having a mute switch, and it would be nice to be able to toggle one of the shaping functions on the fly.

I know you can engage the mute by pulling out on the master volume, but I'd rather not have to touch the master volume (once I'm dialed in) to have to mute.

I've read the BassGear review and found it great, but I was wondering - any direct comparisons with the GBE-750/1200? I dig the solid channel a lot and it seems that the M6 would be somewhat out of the same mold. Any thoughts?

Gracias!

Well, I did compare it directly to the GBE 1200 as part of my review (though of course I did not mention all of my notes in the review). Both are great heads, but looking at my notes, one comment I made read like this:

'Boogie seems every bit as punchy and articulate, but more smooth and less harsh, and a tad more full. Very impressive.'

That is not to say that I would rate the M6 over the GBE 1200 (or the GBE over the M6, for that matter). In fact, if you look at our scoring, I gave them very similar scores (3.8/5.0 average for the M6, 3.9/5.0 average for the GBE 1200). They are both highly competent. Just different flavors of great.

Tom.

...and more difficult to schlep around....but I hear you. As much as I'd love the sound of a bigger amp with a bigger cab, I just don't do the gigs or play the kind of music that justifies it.....but don't think it still doesn't cross my mind!

:)

What are your thoughts on pairing the Carbine w/ our hoary old HT/EX stacks?

What preamp are you considering for your possible IP?

Personally, I don't care for the pull-mute switch on the volume. I bumped it while trying it out and oops! Volume on. Pretty cool amp though.
A friend purchased a Fathom and I tried it through his Epifani UL410. I really liked the variety of tones. He decided to pair it with an Aguilar 212, so he took the Fathom home and left Epi with me... :D

I'm diggin this amp more and more. Gonna gig it a few times this weekend and see how it does in different gig situations with different basses and cabs.

The footswitch thing is kinda wierd. The way its set up you can have more than one preset on at a time if I'm not mistaken, which is rife with the possibility for confusion, especially in the middle of a song "wait, did I turn off 1 before I turned on 3? Crap!"

The pull mute thing is not something I'm crazy about, but luckily I really don't rely on a mute function that much so its not a big deal for me.

I'm gonna try some different 12ax7's in there too just to see, I've got some nice NOS tubes, I'd like to hear how the M6 responds.

I sent an email to that voodoo switch guy as well, to get a quote on a footswitch for the M6. Just out of curiosity. they look really nice
