Mesa M9 mega thread

I don't doubt the Genz cabs are spectacular but I certainly wouldn't describe the Mesa cabs as mediocre. I run my Carbine with a PH412 and its simply sublime! Its a neo cab so no overly heavy.

I shipped off my M9 to mesa Hollywood, took gut shots of it before I packed it up so I can do a before and after kinda thing when it comes back.

HI

Just played my first gig with an M9. Pretty crazy. Way too loud. So much power. Paired it with a Berg HS410. Super fast sounding, loud!!! I used position 3 w the graphic eq engaged. Too quick to tell if this will be where Ill leave it. The gig I did was a metal type gig. I used my Sadowsky PJ5. Top end sounded killer!! Thick, powerful. I started w the gain on about noon but backed it off to 9 oclock. Bass and mid know 1 oclockish. Didnt use the compressor. Master so low I couldnt believe the volume. I turned down once in soundcheck and twice during the gig. LOL. So far, so good. Looking forward to trying other settings for my other gigs

Hey Rob!

I've had my M9 for several months, using it with a Berg AE410. It does have gobs of power. I'm still getting used to the enormous tonal flexibility. Has a nice DI as well. I'm very happy with it. Some guy at my gig this weekend was raving about the tone and saying he wanted his bass player to sound like me. He seemed really interested in the Mesa.

For sure. I almost feel like its a ridiculous amount. Ive got to get used to the gain vs the master. Its only one gig. I really like it but I want to feel comfortable setting it up. Ill get there. It does sound awesome.

Hey Rob,long time.I didnt know you were getting into one of these too.I also use it with a Berg HS410.Personally,I love having the power when I need it,and when I dont,I know its there.I did what you did.I started with the gain past 12:00 to try to add some warmth but realized this amp is warm already.I seem to be comfortable with it at 10:00.And there is headroom for days.For fun at soundcheck I wanted to see what this thing would do so I cranked it WAY up.The bartender at the other side of the room came to me and said the glasses on the bar were vibrating.

Im going into my second week with mine.Love it so far.Played last night and took my FBN5.Didnt like it as much with the M9 as I did my Lakland.I really want to try this amp at 2ohm.Ill probably never run it this way on a gig,but again I like knowing I can if ever needed.

So....One thing to mention.Im 5 gigs into this amp and I frequently check to see how warm it runs during the night.Its never even felt warm on top of the unit.This amp is for sure a keeper for me.
