Mesa M9 mega thread

I'll keep you posted.Unfortunately my Thurs gig is a pretty low volume Christmas party and the M9 will be just WAY too much for that job and Fri may not be too much different.But Im going to take it anyway for no other reason but to give it a 2 night tryout for Sat.That will be the full blown deal.
I have not had a chance to try it with my Berg HS410 as it is in another location.But I'm really enjoying it with my 115 and 212.I sold my DB751 and I'm shipping it out this week-I'm going to try to play them side by side before it goes.

Also are/is there more than one Rev. on this amp? Like one version has Footswitch for EQ/Mute/Compression and one other just has Comp/Mute, etc.?

Lol-I havent had enough time with it to make a final decision but.........so far I dont see that happening.
But this is only living room testing after all.
Ill be setting up all my cabs and amps tonight for some more testing.I want to compare it to what I have,and to be honest this thermal shutdown thing has me a bit worried.I cant afford to have it shut down on a gig.Ill be playing it alot from now til Thurs night.
I love to hear that!What are you transporting it in?All I have at the moment is a 2 space rack bag.

2 space skb rack for me. plenty of room for cooling vents to vent.
i use mine at 2 ohms a lot.
The latest update has a new lid with a lot more vents, a different thermal relay, a second fan on the mosfets, and an updated fuse holder. maybe some other stuff.

I was actually just looking at the SKB racks.I'd really prefer not to go to a 3spacer unless I have to.

Thanks-I may look into that.Tonight Im shopping 2 space racks.After looking at the rack bag that I have,Im not sure it would have enough ventilation.Its pretty tight-the back is open,but its snug top and bottom.
I cant wait to get to mine-Im really thinking it will be a good match.My HS 410 is at my girlfriends house-left it there last weekend.Ill have it Sat.

Spent a couple more hours with my M9 last night.Again the gig is where it matters,I know, but.....I really like this head.I played it side by side with my LMII and a DB751.In my living room testing the m9 gives my what I felt I was lacking from both.
I love my LMII-for smaller gigs.It's very neutral and sounds the same from room to room.However on larger gigs I miss the hefty chest pounding thump from my old giant rack rig from years ago.Looks like the M9 has that and them some.
I really liked the DB751 on larger gigs.Great chest thump and strong bottom end.Seemed like I was always fighting with on smaller gigs.I had to run an stomp pre to add another flavor as we cover different styles of music quite a bit.Great amp for what it does.The M9 looks lilt it will be able to give me the flexibility to do both.

Yup I've got 2 - HS410s but have never gigged with more than 1. 2 of em sound insane! I'm still waiting for a gig large enough to use both.
By the way I don't have any thermal issues at all. My M9 runs cool and quiet.

Schweet!Id love to hear two.I cant imagin ever needing two,but it would be fun to try it and let my guitarist see what it feels like to be blasted all night!
I opened mine up last night and it looks like it came with the updates best I can tell.I may call Mesa anyway.It has a higher serial number and looks like it was inspected in March of this year,so maybe they come updated now.I played it for a couple more hours last night and no issues at all.
Just wondering-Is the foot switch cable it comes with some special M9 thing?I tried a shorter cable I had and it didnt work.

I had two Epi UL410's for a while.
It was *devastating* with the M9; and I really never could have use for it.

Me either,I cant think of but one or two gigs I did all year that two were ever needed,and those couple it wasnt really needed but maybe I could have justified it(big outdoor events)
I seem to run in cycles with this-For years I brought a big rack with 2 cabs as I didnt want to rely on a soundman and a monitor.Then got a tast of it and actually spent 7 years in a big show band on the road and NEVER had a bass amp on stage.Just showed up with my bass and used his monitor.But that soundman just awesome,which seems to be rare.Now Im back to bring a rig as our guy doesnt seem to get it!(or doesnt care)
