Mesa M9 mega thread

Am I reading her initial post right? Just Noon and Noon on the Gain and master? You think that'd be enough to kill both of those cabs?

Wow, My M9 with the gain at noon and the master at 9 oclock made my pair of PH115's re arrange bowels. The M9 gets ungodly loud very early on the master volume. Its not surprising that running the master at noon would have destroyed Breanna's 115 cab. I'm surprised the 210 survived! That must be one loud stage volume!

Yeah haha the more I play with mine, that def could be the case. My cabs handle (allegedly) 600W a piece, and my Master with both plugged in is at about 8:30 and that's LOUD on stage. Gain is about 10-10:30.

Mine:
input at noon, master at 9 oclock.

Epi UL410 (1000 watt rated), or two x LDS2x8's (two x 400 watt rated).

Pretty sure M9 at noon+noon would destroy either of those set-ups, if you played hard.
Might take two x 810 to really deal with that well.

Update on the 115 smoking guys...
Was a faulty speaker.
I don't know a lot of the technical side of what was wrong (took my guitarist along to make sure I understood... lol). Anyway, from what I can gather, when it was built, the two wires were placed too close together, and when the speaker moved, they were touching each other, causing the problem of shutting off, and then the smoke after it came back on. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, like I said, I don't know too much about the technical side.
Pro Audio in Canberra replaced with a brand new speaker today, hopefully it will be right now.
Also, I don't think I'm all that loud. :S
I dunno. Maybe I am. I played around alot with the settings today and hopefully it will run slightly better now.
We use a reasonable size PA (two JBL srx 2x18 sub boxes and two 2x15's with horns), so I'll probably be relying on that much more now, and see how I go.
Glad that issue is sorted anyway!

good news indeed
if that's the speaker wire shorting out, then it has nothing to do with volume :)
rock on!

BTW, for all you guys who fear that noon/noon on gain/vol will destroy 2x 15, I am glad to report that my 15's still held up just fine :D

Good to hear, but I still think I would be deaf within an hour at that volume!. My M9 is pretty much the loudest amp I have ever owned. It sounds so good though and has so many "real world" features that I have pretty much cured amp GAS between my M9 and Walkabout.

Yeah, "hiss".
Sorry my comment wasn't clear.

I am surprised some of you considered the M9 quiet.
What other highly regarded amp head that you used had more "hiss"?
Again, it's mostly fine in a bar/club type of gig.

Ahh, yeah well I have my tweeters turned off (or as "off" as they go) in my PH212 cabs so I don't really hear it. When they're about midway I hear that a little bit, but that's only b/c I boost the onboard B and T controls on my Spectors.

Yeah, I figure some of you have the tweeter off.
But even so, some of the amplified noise, come out from the woofers of my cabs.

Could be you have a tube with a crummy noise floor.
Might could try a different one.

Those Schroeder horns run way up there, and might be more susceptible to making that hear-able, as opposed to some other cabs.
