Actually, this cab combo really does match up well with an M6/9:

Actually, despite an influx of even more gear to choose from, the decision making process has been made somewhat easier since I began writing for Guitar World's Bass Guitar Magazine and now Bass Gear Magazine. I mostly just bring whatever it is that I am reviewing! Of course, this doesn't cover all of the gigs, so the rest of the time, I am back to asking questions like: how big is the stage? how loud are my bandmates? what style music? what is the PA support going to be like? what do I know about the venue/stage? etc.

Well, that shot was from a summer gig, and once I am out of the shirt and tie, I'm pretty much sleeveless 90% of the time in the summertime, whether I am gigging or not. I get too damned hot otherwise.

So I started messing w/ the Voicings last night, and clicking off the graphic EQ and clicked on the Compressor just to get some different tones out of it.

And, man, wow. I normally think onboard preset stuff like this is kinda hokey, but dang it really does work. I have the compressor w/ the Threshold at about 9 and Ratio at about 11 and the Voicing on 4, and it just kills for a pickstyle attack! :bassist: Gives me more of the natural "crunch" I was looking for.
Also voicing 2 w/out the compressor for slower fingerstyle stuff is just brutal. Big, fat, deep and wide. Awesome.

Luckily I don't need to switch Voicings really in-song, but I'll for sure be running back to the amp and switching that in-set depending on the tune. This amp continues to deliver. And I'm considering starting to use the Active switch on the input, as well :lol:. Otherwise I can't get the amp to actually get hot and work since the Master through my dual PH212 setup stays at about 9:30... :o :D

I'm currently working in a logistics center and one of the two computers in the breakroom has a 'v' key that is (probably) linked by some food debris to the spacebar (depending on how far down the spacebar is pressed).
I try to go back and delete all the 'v's, but apparently I missed one (hence the Itallian/Russian connection).
I guess the "No food or drinks allowed at the computers" sign is there for naught.

So had this thing a few weeks now, maybe more than that, but have used it for 3 shows and 3 weeks worth of practice and I've almost got this thing perfectly dialed in. The options in the amp are what I've been waiting for, for a long time but within the "Mesa tone" camp. I basically use mine like a 2-channel amp, one for fingerstyle and one for pick (of which I do about 20/80%, respectively) with engaging the Graphic EQ for a real high-mids attack and snarl around 900-2k, and the Voicing at flat, and then for fingerstyle I click that off, and use Voicing 2 which gives it a big fat wide sound that's a lot more supportive and punchy. My Spector sounding awesome with either style doesn't hurt, but yeah- the punch on Voicing 2 is just killer especially through my modular PH412 stack! Extremely satisfied with this one, and it's got the quickness and clarity I've been wanting Mesa to offer for a long time now.
I also have been dialing in the Compressor just to give it that extra grind and have almost got it to where I'm not even considering getting something in the rack to put in the FX Loop or on my PB, this sounds so good and does just what I need. A little more tweaking and it'll be perfect. I leave it on for either pick of fingerstyle.
Simply continues to flat out impress. Love it.

I find I really like the sound of the amp on voice 3, the flat setting when playing through my PH412 but I recently picked up a PH410 and the number 2 setting is simply amazing with the punchier and snarlier 410 cab. The 2 voice adds some deep smooth low end and takes out just enough mids that the tone isn't scooped but has a modern bright and deep character. What a machine!

Exactly. I messed with Voice 4 a little, but it's too extreme for me, as it's in the same "vein" as how I have the Graphic EQ set anyway, with the boosted mids but mine is "sweeter" IMO and sounds better overall.

But yeah, 2 and then my G-EQ settings on this = total /win.
