Mesa M9 mega thread

So I think Imma start trying to make the Voicings work more for me than the G-EQ. I dunno why but every once in a while I just think my settings are "off" and I get discouraged with the sound. So I change them, and don't like them, but sorta do, then get sidetracked, and forget to try and get them back to where they were before and forget haha.

I think Vic said a few pages back that at times they sound "too loud". I've combat this before by just turning down the Gain, not necessarily the Master. Worked ok for me. Voicings 2 and 4 are what I like the best so I'll see which is best for an "all the time" kinda thing.

I don't think Vic meant they were too loud, but rather, a bit extreme and that he used the GEQ to minimise the effect of the voice control.
I might have misinterpreted though.

Ah ok, then I just read that wrong possibly. The general point though I tend to agree with. If I can't get one to just "work" I may have to try that approach.

There are some cab amp combinations that just really complement each other very well.

This would be one and while on the subject of Carbines and Bergs -- any of the NV series (especially the NV610) should go together well with these amps, as well as just about any of the HT series (I'd love to hear three HT115 or a pair of HT310 driven by an M9), also the HS series (HS410 & HS210), and out of the AE series the AE212 (one or two) should match-up really well!

this is the reason I have amps for 2 ohm (or 2x 4 ohm)

Even with the hottest Music Man i have always used the passive input. There is just something about the active input that just sucks the life out of the sound of the bass. This holds true for pretty much every amp I have owned especially the Trace Elliot I had. THe M9 is no different to me, passive all the way.

As far as cabinet combinations go, Man this thing really smokes with 10's and 12's for me. 4x10 and a 2x12 is amazing. I can only imagine that a 4x12 and an 8x10 would be really amazing, but then i would have to have 2 M9's to drive them, wait, whats wrong with that? lol

Just dropping back in to say:
I've played *a lot* of rigs in the last few years, but the M9/UL410 rig just flat out delivers my tone, consistently.
That rig is one big, bad, aggressive clear Bass Hammer.

Awesome.
