Mesa M9 mega thread

i'm certain it's lighter than my old wt800b; and it *crushes it* for headroom.

at the time, i liked the wt800b tone. compared to the mesa m6/m9, it seemed pretty slow, wooly, and underpowered...even when it was bridging 1200 watts at 4 ohms.

I was using a wt800B before I went to the M9 (used an MB sd800 for a couple months in between). I agree with everything you say about it. With the M9 I can get tones similar to the eden, but the M9 has some tones all its own i like even more.

my memory ain't all it ought to be, but,
IIRC, the M6 was about 25lbs
The M9 should have a little more transformer weight...

the 2 space skb plastic rack really doesn't weigh much more than the air it houses when empty, i wouldn't be at all surprised if it were 2-3.

at any rate, my racked weight+cables/powerstrip is posted two or three up, and you can work backwards from there if you care to...or mebbee someone has one unracked that's handier than me...

I should have answered this question myself earlier this week. I had the M9 unracked to go back to the store and brought it to my office and sat it about 5 feet from my digital scale and never ever thought to weigh it. :hmm:

Man I'm late to the party lol.

I'm running an M9 and PH410. I'm about to add a PH115 and a BB750 to the mix once I get the insurance money from my recent near-fatal accident. Hooray for upsides! :p

I'm playing this rig in everything on this myspace page. This band gets together, improvs, names the jams, then gigs lol. Hence the name "Whatever"...and me always being half drunk when I play :o. Can't deny the fun!

my experience with these two amps are a little different...

my WT800b weight about the same as my M9, both under 30 lb. by itself

and my Mesa is only a tinny bit louder than the Eden, when both were wide opened

thou the M9 is more "in your face" then the WT800, when both were set "flat" - M9 voice 3, no deep bass, no EQ, no compressor / WT no enhance, no EQ

What's everyone's favorite bass though the M9? Any you think really shine? Any you find to be lackluster through the M9?

I favor passive basses and I really like a P-Bass into the M9 (with a pick it can get nasty in a great way), but I tried a Musicman Sterling into the M9 too and thought the MM sound really complimented the M9's tone.

Hi guys! I've got a few questions relating to the M9, specifically compared to the M6:

Is the POST DI affected my the MASTER?
Is the DI live when MUTE is activated?
Is the FX loop pre or post MASTER?
Does the MASTER control work like a volume knob, or an On/Off switch (yeah, I'm looking at you, M6)?

Any help would be appreciated.

With the various voicing control settings, and the graphic eq, if you can't get your sound, I don't think you're trying very hard;)

Transparent? Well, it's certainly much less colored than other Mesa heads I've had, like the Walkabout.
