Mesa Next-Gen Walkabout Scout

Probably too many permutations to be viable.
There are only 4 heads (the WD and TT have identical chassis) so IF I was to look at this concept again, which of the 3 formats (D-800, D-800+ and WD/TT) would be most interesting to players?

Therein lies the problem, you need all three to be available. If you make just one, TT for example, what about the D+ crowd or the D crowd. You need 3 ;)

Wait, I use the WD and the WD and TT are the same.
Make the one for the TT/WD :)

So with the bracket idea.
Do we need T nuts installed into next-gen cabs?
Is this something we can retrofit to existing cabs?
Are we lifting the combo from the head and bracket?

Just thing to consider...

For me, something like a WD-800 or D-800 or any of the Mesa heads really attached to the top of a vertical 112 would be perfect, but the handle gets in the way of doing that. I've had some recent hearing damage and will likely be doing lower volumes gigs going forward. Also moving into the downsizing mode and a 112 with a 112 extension cab would be perfect. If a bracket ever became available, I guess I would check with the custom shop to see if they would build a vertical 112, handles on the vertical "sides", but I think everything is cut via CNC, so nobody, understandably, really wants to deviate from what the CNC cuts.

As a beloved deputy director in my organization would sometimes ask, what is the problem we are trying to solve here? If we are trying to make an 800W 112 combo, then why? It seems to me that such a combo would have unneeded power and it would take some knowledge and skill to avoid damaging the driver.

If we are trying to make a lightweight neo 112 combo, then just bring back the Walkabout using lighter cabinet and speaker components. I'm unclear on what we are trying to do here.

A combo with more updated tech. Would be lighter weight than the older WA Scout. Also, not trying to make a 800W combo, but if you put a WD-800 on top of a SW 112 cab, you have a 800W combination. Well, the cab is 8 ohm, so it's 400W.

If think that's exactly the good question. GR Bass seems to have a good answer: they have a 800 W 112 combo, where you get the 800 W of the head with an external cab. I suppose you only have 400 W or 500 W without an external cab… It seems to be smart and modular: for small gigs you only take the combo and you have a light 500 W all in one amp. For bigger gigs, you can a an extra cab to get 800 W.

I already use my WD800 with a 1x12 cab without any issues, and I honestly don't have, or see a need for a bracket. What would all of you gain from attaching the head to the cab vs just using them together ? .... want to be clear here, I'm not judging, I'm just interested to understand what the need is.

As far as which amp to configure for, couldn't there be a universal attachment that had adjustable brackets to accommodate the different chassis ?

A poster mentioned simplicity and the need to mobilize the gear to the stage, and away, quickly. Some shows are multi-band shows, requiring an explosion of work between acts to get ready for the next act.

I do not play these kinds of shows, so I am happy with a Class D head and a modern small cab.

I like being able to tilt back the cab when using it in a single cab mode and not having to worry about the head sliding off.
