I have to admit I’m struggling with understanding the benefit of a simple bracket because you still need to hook up unhook and store the power cord and speakon(s).

A Class D switching mode power supply head by itself is typically easy to transport in a gig bag or dedicated laptop bag.

I like being able to tilt back the cab when using it in a single cab mode and not having to worry about the head sliding off.

yes, that's what I do as well when I use a tilt back stand for my WD800/1x12 cab rig. Works fine, never had an issue with the amp slipping off.

So now that we've firmly established that there is no need for a $+1700 'Insanely Pro Level' combo, can we get back to the Pro 'Entry Level' combo with:
12" speaker.
200 watts is good, 300w with extension works too.
The preamp from the Subway Bass DI Preamp
A switch to make the combo FRFR but have a MASTER variable HPF.
IR/Cab Loader.

That’s a good question... since I don’t know that there is really a good competitor against what Mesa would give you for the equivalent to price against anymore. That’s the problem, I guess thats why this idea is so important to me.
With that said I’d easily pay 2 or 3 hundred more than whatever else is out there.

Shoot make this a custom order and I’d order it tomorrow.

Agreed, this is something I’m going to order, and after playing on the Subway stuff, I’m going to stand at the door waiting for it to come because I know the value of it.

Sadly not many brands out there like there use to be that actually listen to what a bass player wants. I missed the old SWR, Eden, etc.... stuff until I got my new Mesa gear.

I see the new Mesa guitar combo amps that are out and I want something like that for bass!

I suspect $1700 for a combo with Mesa level quality engineering and service wouldn’t be outside of reasonable. I expect it could fit nicely in their lineup.

The Walkabout itself wasn’t exactly cheap for a combo either. If I recall it was one of the most expensive combos on the market in its day.

The thing is Mesa has never been for entry level players. What’s next? Made in China Mesa?

Around the price of the mesa Venture 600? It sold pretty well I think. However i. don't remember its price new.

Too bad there isn’t a way to cut cost by just selling the cab with the open slot for one of the Subway heads to fit in it.
Not sure if that is possible because of 800 watts power, but that would make this combo idea like the old walkabouts more reasonably priced for the masses.

With that said, seeing the price point for the guitar combos over the years from Mesa, it’s kind of funny how bass players see Mesa’s Subway line making a possible combo, and then ask for it to match other more mass produced standard brand’s prices.

The high end guitar world is quite different as you have suggested, but even that is changing somewhat.
