I would love it, too. I would prefer a 800D.
I can't afford a Subway amp, but I would definitely buy a preamp version of the 800D, and yes, a voicing knob would be a nice addition.

I have A WD-800 amp and if I wanted to used it as a preamp, that option is available as is. I think having the option of having more of a plug and go preamp especially the D800 in particular pre-amp would be a useful addition.

I would also love Tech21 to bring back the VT Bass Deluxe, but with the VT Bass DI control options. Both would get an astronomical amount of use from myself.
Deep switch and Bright switch, with a voicing and the WD-800 would be a swiss army top of the line D.I.
This would be a great way to add the Bass 800D voicing to a TT-800 as needed, without having to buy an extra chassis and power amp.
To each his own, this is my dream preamp - I deliberately removed the mute switch, because I prefer an always on pedal. Not only would it be useless for my needs, but I would also risk to press it by mistake.
Of course, it would be based on the preamp of the Bass 800D.Is there a Tube(s) inside Pre
I used the knobs of the 400+/800D in order to show that filiation, but I'm not sure it's a good idea.
Also the enclosure of the original Subway DI+ that I took as a starting point is probably too small to fit a tube preamp, but it's just a quick mockup to illustrate the features that I'd love to find, "dream preamp" doesn't mean "feasible"
Oh it's feasible: My guess is Andy's head is constantly full of Idea's and seems to consider players Idea's also

How would the boost work? Clean boost? More of a GK-like thing? What would the “level” control? I’m guessing one of those switches on back would be DI pre/post.
It does seem promising in this age of ampless stages to put such a popular voice into a pedal. I wonder if Andy could conjure up that 800D magic sans tube?
