Mesa Walkabout MOSFETs

Right, but what would be the symptoms?
Amp won't work...

There are many symptoms and causes that overlap, no single definitive cause and effect. This is true of most failures and associated symptoms.

And do yourself a BIG favor: DO NOT take this to 'that guy that works on electronics' in his garage or basement. Find a Mesa Authorized Service Center (or a Warranty Repair certified tech). These are not the old days when somebody could drop the chassis out of a Fender tube amp, poke around and make it mostly work.

You know that I'm the author of the two best sellers "It Was Working Until I Fixed It, Volume One" and the follow-up Volume Two, so believe me when I tell you it's always cheaper to fix it ONCE and not spend money twice to fix the fix.

I have a walkabout that's about 20 years old. The fan is a little wonky. I wanted to send the amp to Mesa for a look over/tuneup while these can still be serviced and they wouldn't take it.
That's odd, was this recently or just post COVID?

I know that we have been servicing these at the factory. Give customer service a call and ask for Kris, he knows more about the factory service program than anyone there.

this was maybe 6 months ago? It was over the phone. I may try again and ask for Kris.

Whoever I talked to was friendly, but was NOT interested in taking the amp. I live in Portland, and he said find a mesa rep in town. I called around, and its like a 6-8 month wait and just a huge hassle.

I'm not mad or anything, but I've always hear that Mesa will service your amp, but this just isn't the case with my walkabout.

This ^ was my experience also. Earlier this year I spoke with someone at Mesa Customer Service about my newly acquired Walkabout. The guy was cool, but he made it fairly clear that he did not want me to send the amp in.

If we can't service it, I can work on it at my R&D lab. It's better if Justin works on it though, he is more experienced with the Walkabout and has all of the parts there. I have many but not all.

Kris is the guy in customer service to talk with, he's familiar with the amp.
