neither do trivium....
they do fit the s**t core genre though...
just my personal opinion...
last time i looked up top, it was metal/grindcore/hardcore bass, and troy sanders fits in there and fits in there well.
that aside, lately, my current favorite is joe lester from intronaut. the kid is amazing. plays a pedulla and a warwick with lots of chording.

I notice he strums on the last few frets of the neck.
Is this part of his sound or is it just cause he's fat? I'm big so I also find it comfortable to strum on the last few frets on the neck but i've always wondered if I would get a different sound if I pick on the bridge or neck of letssay a double PU bass like the Jazz Bass.

I only have "Inside the Torn Apart" by ND, but the bass tone on that is great. Nice amount of drive that sits perfectly with the guitars.
Ive always been a huge fan of Craig "Ahead" Setari (Sick of it All), i think he really leads the band musically, it isnt anything complicated, but it fits the music well and i love the overdriven sound he gets
+ They are all really sound guys and great live!
By far and large one of my favorite bands. Seen them like 8 times and was NEVER dissapointed! Last time I saw them they were oppening for Dropkick Murphy's. During the middle of their set the crowd started chanting for SOIA, how metal is that!

Im not sure if youre big into powermetal or progmetal. But Dream Theater's John Myung is just amazing. He freaks it like he owns it. Also, when waxing on metal bassists, the name Cliff Burton is key.
Also see Stratovarius, Cannibal Corpse, Sonata Arctica. HC bassists dont really seem to stand out much though. Though Sick Of It All's guy has some magnificant chops and Raised Fist has a really good bassist too.
But yes, John Myung, youve got to check him out.
