Metal Head Dating Site

Maybe I am the last one to know...

Well, I thought FarmersOnly.com was a little weird... now there is a heavy metal dating site.

Problem is, probably, that there are no women on the site, just 17-year-old shred-head dudes playing old Metallica songs.

Meet Metalheads - Metal Head Dating and Community

My five minutes of research indicates there is not only this one (meetmetalheads.com), but several other metalhead dating sites: metalheaddating.com, metalheaddate.com, heavymetaldate.com, and more.

I saw one web story (linkedbelow) that lists metaldating.com as the #4 best dating website, and says it is one of the fasting-growing dating sites. This same article informs me that there are sites for metal dating, emo dating, goth dating punk dating, rock dating, etc.

This just seems weird to me... don't teens join bands because of the girls? Need a dating website too? This online dating thing is more mainstream than I supposed. Back in the olden days, you just had to meet girls at shows and stuff.

I think the days when you joined a METAL band to meet chicks ended about twenty-seven years ago...

Making a band to get girls may worked in the 70's but now it isn't. Need more thant that to impress a girl especially when music doesn't more value than some McDonalds ...

Well, it still worked in the late 80's... and although I can't confirm this, I think it still works for college-age people (which I was in the late 80's). After the age of 22-- even then-- girls quickly realize that musicians are going nowhere fast and they are not interested in paying his bills.

Still, these web sites suggest that standards have dropped... back then you needed to be able to PLAY some music of a specific type...now, apparently, all you have to do is LIKE music of a certain kind, and have access to a computer, and you'll get dates.

You are depressing me. I am going to quit music and become a stock broker. Girls still like money, right?

Still, if people today think music is NBD, why is this metal-music-based dating website so successful? Apparently SOME girls--assuming there are any on that website-- think a specific type of music is pretty cool and is a key to their identity, and they want someone who shares their identity.

I'm sorry to depress you. Sure some people like some genre and don't listen to anything else. A big part of me see that and the claim but still feel like this is all a lie. It is the internet, you can't trust the information

Because hope springs eternal - desperation, even more so. I'm sure that what happened is that a metalhead tried a dating site, couldn't find any girls that were into what he was into, compared notes with all his metalhead friends and they all had the same experience, and then he had the brilliant idea of starting a separate dating site where you would guarantee that everyone would be into the same thing - same as you get dating sites for particular religions and such. It's successful because all the metalhead guys go onto it and pay the fee. I'm sure that 95% of the members are male and 75% of the "female" ones are fake, being used by various scammers, phone-sex businesses, who knows what.

What was that website with the big scandal that got hacked a couple years ago - the one that was for married people looking to cheat? IIRC they figured out that practically all the genuine accounts were men. I don't think "successful" actually means "matches made," just money.

Why do you think that site is successful?

Hellifyno. I am surprised it even exists, let alone is successful. Like @hrodbert696 said, probably a combination of desperation and delusion.

I guess I was just born at the right time, and went to a college where the music scene was a kind of a big deal for everyone there, and that the band I was in had a following and a "scene." I remember one year a girl that I had dated was a Harem Girl for Halloween because somebody was warning girls that I had a "harem." I only repeat this because it makes me sound really awesome in a cool but shallow way. :) The truth was far different. One man's Harem is another man's dated three girls. Anyway, point being, I'll count my blessings that music was cool and the girls were into it, back when I was in college. Later (again, past the age of 22) it was quite different, but now that I am married to an awesome woman and have my little family, I don't care if you young guys get the chicks or not, with your rocking and your rolling. But I hope you do, anyway. Brotherhood of Bass.

Well, instead of going on that site, they could just go to a metal concert?

But now. Nowadays you get to know people over the internet /s

Just for ironic purposes, I am thinking of starting an "I am a Loner and I don't care what people think of me" twitter/facebook accounts. "I'm a rebel! I go my own way, baby! You don't want to get messed up with a guy like me! How do you like my cheese fondue? Yum!"

Articles about what dating sites are "successful" are undoubtedly written by freelance writers paid by owners of the dating sites, aimed at boosting the dating sites search rankings.

Ashley Madison was the cheating site full of guys. When outed it caused some difficulties, especially for those who reside in jurisdictions where certain activities are punished with death.

Any time I read or hear the term, "metal head" I think of this...

Tangential story - we have some friends who are from Iran, and were invited to a birthday party - mom and her 2-year-old girl have birthdays on the same day. They asked if I could bring a guitar over and play, because apparently it's traditional to have music at parties in Iran (they also usually dance, but I don't really know any dance music for acoustic guitar...). Now, I play in church and I've brought the guitar to family events on a couple of occasions and hardly any Americans ever made more than a passing comment about it. I get the guitar out at this birthday party, and these Iranian women practically SWARM around me - asking for songs, singing along to ones they know, asking me to show them how to play. I'm middle aged and happily married, so it's not like I was getting phone numbers or anything. But it was a total surprise and a shift of perspective about the difference in cultures. I imagine it's a lot more like what @Plutonium244 remembers from when he was younger.
