Maybe it should say, Most Incredible Cover Song Guitarist. She might end up playing in Alice Cooper's band one day. Does she do any songwriting? I wouldn't call Neil Young and Bob Dylan great guitarists but they've written and recorded some world famous songs.

Back when grunge was bypassing metal, there were some cool bands. Most didn't make it in the wake of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. My roommates about 25 years ago were in a post-punk band. The guitarist worked for an alternative record label, or knew somebody there. I got to check out a lot of cool stuff that way. How about this one:
I know next to nothing bout this band, but they were heavy when heavy was a dirty word. RIGHT AROUND THIS TIME, I discovered Iced Earth, which became my favorite band in the 90s and 2000s.

This reminds me of Iced Earth. Come to think of it, Iced Earth was my favorite band while Mike Howe was out of Metal Church.

That was a hard one to pull out. The original sound is pretty mellow to begin with. Maybe if they pushed a little bit more the darker aspects of the song could have been great.
I agree....maybe made it a little more metal

When I look back through my childhood and teens, there was only one song I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard it. That song was Metallica's "Enter Sandman".
I was sitting on the carpeted floor of my best friend's bedroom. I must of have been about 8 or 9, and my friend, Colin, said to me, "You gotta hear this new song I heard". He put in the tape, pressed Play, and I was floored. It was like nothing I had heard before.
Nowadays, it's a song I skip pretty much every time it comes on... I much prefer their earlier work and even Death Magnetic, but it did introduce me to a new genre of music. I grew up with them, and because of that, they'll always be my favourite Metal band.
I'm not a huge fan of a lot new metal bands. My metal favourites are of an older era... Metallica, Iron Maiden, Sabbath, and others. I like Huntress and Ghost, but both are more reminiscent of the metal of yesterday than today. I like Tool too, but they're more of a Prog Metal, if that counts.

Yep, I agree with you.....Go as fast and extreme as you can go.....playing slow is for......well you know
Doom bands can be quite extreme being slow.... and also have great bass sounds
