MIA Jazz Bass set up help!

Hey! I have a MIA Jazz Bass, and i was thinking about change the PUPS. I have a couple questions:
1 - I'm looking for Steve Harris kinda tone, i was looking into a pair of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders PUPS, i know SD have the Steve's signature PUPS for the P Bass, but not for the Jazz. Am I looking in the wrong direction? What kind of PUPS should i be looking at?

2 - In the process of changing the PUPS, instead of having two different knobs, is it possible to eliminate one of them and connect both PUPS to only one knob?

I have a Fender MIA Jazz Bass, and have tried five various sets of aftermarket pickups in it. Guess which one is still in it? Yeah, you got it - the stock pickup! Discovered that my fingers, and where and how I play, from over the back of the neck to over the bridge pup, gives more of the tonal changes that I want . . . strings to a minor degree! BTW, you can also use the tone knobs on your amp!

Just get a P-Bass. Tat's what you're looking for.

Yes, you can.
Do you want a tone knob or a volume knob?
If you want just a tone knob, consider getting a push/pull pot so you can mute the bass.
Series, or parallel wiring? (You would, in this case, use whatever it's wired as now to conserve tone.)
Keep in mind if you remove the other knobs, you'll have holes in your control plate you have to cover.

Edit: if you mean 1 vol 1 tone you can do that too. I may have misunderstood. The warning about the holes still applies however.

Try wiring the pickups in series for extra girth.

He could get the vintage reissue control plate that has one less hole in it for the stacked knob set up. That would eliminate the empty hole.
