I fabricated the pickguard, my 2nd. The 1st one was 20 years ago and was made of stainless steel for a Gibson Challenger Guitar. I have almost 3 hours in it. Jigsaw, drimmel and sand paper. It doesn't have a fancy 45 degree bevel. It came out great I like it.

The Monster Tone pickups are great. I didn't think I was going to like them at first until I replaced the lifeless, dead sounding, stock EB Slinky strings. I put my favorite Hi-Beams on it and they sounded Awesome. I have never been a passive pickup guy until recently. I've always put EMG's in all my instruments. I like and use both the 59 Custom shop P that comes in the Mike Dirnt and the Geezer Butler set EMG is making and I've always liked the original EMG P.
I'm not sure I'm the guy to ask to describe the tone of the monster Tone pickups because of my limited experience with passive pickups. I will say this about them ; The J sounds great but I will probably never use it, I'm a P guy. The USA MA Monster Tone Pickups are special in that they use Ceramic Bar Magnets on the bottom and that's the reason they are wound so hot. The P specs at 12.6 K and mine is actually measuring a little overwound @ 12.9 K on both my meters. They are full and cover the tonal spectrum almost as full as an active EMG and have the perfect low mid bump where the grind should be. I wish Schecter would sell the P by itself , I'd be putting them in a bunch of my P basses but at $269.99 a set, that's probably not going to happen.

The pickups was one of the reasons I was leaning toward getting the Model T session model but a friend told me the history on the Monster Tone Pickups and he Played the Michael Anthony with the Monster Tones at Namm and he was Blown away by them. I'm very happy with this instrument and it's pickups, it's a pleasure to play.

Congratulations on your wise purchase. Between my MA and my dUg Bass all my other instruments aren't getting much love. The MA 78 Monster Tone pickups are so amazing, nothing comes close to the tone I'm getting with them (especially the "P"). The MA 78 Monster Tones are just as Hot as SD or EMG Active pickups. The Hottest Passive Pickups I've ever experienced I just put a new set of SD Pro Actives in my Butterscotch Model T and now I wish I would have waited and saved the $$ and put the MA 78 Monster Tones in it. I love my Schecter Basses. Ignore the Washburn, my Son ran off with it anyway. I now have a dUg, 2 Michael Anthony's and 2 Model T's. The 2nd MA and the Model T's I found used and very cheap.
I found a really good, reasonably priced, P Pickup that closely matches the MonsterTone P Pickup for my Butterscotch Model T from Mojotone, called the KNOCKOUT. It's wound hot(12.7k) with ceramic bar magnets like the MonsterTone but, has just a slight bit more pronounce high end and the little extra high end is really not a bad thing. Saved $70 and glad I tried it. If anyone is interested in more details about the MojoTone Knockout, let me know.

For what you pay for a Michael Anthony or dUg, for that matter, really can't be touched for the price. The quality and workmanship is AWESOME. The only downfall is Schecter's resale value isn't as good as say a Fender. Don't matter to me though because I won't be selling any of mine.

If you want an idea of how the monstertone P sounds like, here's a video of Waters playing his bass with that pickup, just listen "In the flesh" which starts at this minute
That was the Schecter p-04, the new Monstertone p has the similar construction, it just uses ceramic magnets while the p-04 had alnico V. Well if that was alredy hot, the ceramic one should be even hotter

Edbo, I'm the local guy that sold you the butterscotch model T about a year ago.... a funny story, about 2 months after I sold you that bass, I was down at the Dayton guitar center, and walked right up on an identical used one stupid cheap.....had to buy it. SO there is another in the neighborhood.

Cool ! Did it have those same HOT SD BassLines pickups in it ? I recently found the perfect P pickup for the one I got from you after trying everything I had on hand. It's a MOJOTONE "KNOCKOUT" and it sounds amazing ! I never use a bridge pickup and always unwire it.

I just purchased another Butterscotch Model T Body to go with the spare Neck I've had laying around. I'll be posting pictures on the Schecters Owners Club as soon as I get it put together.
