When band mates end up dead or in serious trouble I always wonder where the rest of the group was. These things don't happen overnight. Like their music or not it's a sad waste of talent and a life.

I guess I sounded a bit unsympathetic, but I've spent a LOT of time dealing with Heroin addicts on a personal level, and while I sympathise, nowadays I refuse to reinforce the behaviour of any user (including alchohol, weed, or other "socially acceptable" drugs) by patting 'em on the head and saying "not your fault".
Love the band but can't say the bass playing is anything special.
Still, this is pretty pathetic and sad. If you get to this point, in an environment where drugs should be easy to come by, your addiction is in need of a major event to prevent death. Looks like he got it. Hopefully he lacks a criminal record and will get off with a relatively light sentence predisposed to treatment.
