Is it just me or does the Realist Lifeline sound surprisingly similar to the Ehrlund?

Yes, the Ehrlund has more "air" but no one in there right mind would be going direct with the realist, won't the "air" come from the speaker? Also, the clips are not gain matched what is perceived as air could simply be, it being quieter. Even the spectrogram on the video is remarkably similar... It seems like these differences could be easily achieved with EQ.

O if it were that simple, but the truth is that on my bass the Realist Copper Foil and the Ehrlund EAP sound very different from each other, especially through the Grace Felix

+1 for the Ehrlund. I've mentioned in another thread that dealing with any unnecessary complications or hassle with equipment on a gig is something I just don't want to do anymore. That includes microphones. Once the EAP was in the right spot it has worked better for me in more playing situations than anything I have ever used, and I have tried many. If a sound person wants to mike the bass for some reason that's up to them. I have had the EAP run through FOH on occasion and it always seems to be good from what I'm told. I want to concentrate on playing. I know what my bass sounds like and I don't seem to need that duplicated electronically to the extent that I get too concerned about it if it's workable for me. Others may differ.

For me the Ehrlund EAP is the ideal pickup. it replicates and emulates a microphone very well with greater feedback rejection. While I prefer the tone and definition of my Remic DB5400 and 5400LB the EAP is better at volume and feedback rejection. The EAP easily mounts easily with small balls of non marking putty while the Remic microphones are easily placed into position with the foam surround the mic holding it into place under the fingerboard, between the bridge feet, or under the tailpiece. Both mountings are stable, easily adjustable, and easily removable. Just my take”
