My old Roland Cube Bass 100 has more punch and flexibility, but it's also much heavier, and the new Cubes are too expensive IMO.

The specs on the Roland Cube Bass 100 baffle me. It says it is rated for 100W out, but the unit consumes 28W. I think I'm going to buy 1,000,000 of them and go into the power generation business.

Musical instrument amps have something like a 1/8th duty-cycle rating for current draw...

Agree with this, hard to beat the rumble 100 at $300 new. I don't own one but I've used one several times at a local blues jam, didnt think it would cut it but it more than held its own and sounded fine, playing with 2 guitar players, 3 horns, a drummer, and a conga player. I was very impressed with it.

Im leaning towards the R100 myself...I want to get out and do some playing with just guitar and bass and am just not interested in carrying around what would be my normal amp for that...BagEnd 1x15 and a mesa walkabout...

I’ve used my 801 (8” combo), alone, and with 12” & 15” ext cabs... gave me ‘decent’ volume (difficult to quantify in a post). I have not tried the 1x10” combo- but would assume volume would be a bit more?

I'm not seeing a Markbass Marcus Miller combo in your price range, but the Markbass 801 is. It's only 60w with an 8" speaker, but it's an amazing amp -- small, and only about 12 lbs. It has the speaker out jack you're hoping for, but virtually no EQ -- just a filter that's really a boost/cut for mids. I find the filter perfectly adequate, especially for upright, but some people like to use a preamp with it for more EQ flexibility.

I also agree with the Rumble 100 recommendations. I love mine, but it does not have a jack for external speaker. This never bothered me because most of my gigs are in small to medium spaces and the amp has plenty of power. I've never had to push the volume past 12 o'clock.

I have (and have gigged with) the Traynor SB 106. I bought it because I wanted something more portable to use with my double bass. Like all Traynor amplifiers, it is very well made. All metal chassis, a fan, and you can plug in an extension speaker. It is half the price of the GK. Sorry I don't have a better picture.

I will second the MarkBass or GK combos. I own and use both of them. i have a Micromark 801 which works great for a Church gig w/o a drummer. I also own a GK 110 combo which is fantastic. I bought the GK for 50 bucks but it needed a speaker. After buying a Neodymium 10 it has been great. I use it with a 7 piece band and it cooks.

As I mentioned, earlier in this thread, I have the 801 combo- works fine for what I need it for... but this one has a 3-band EQ- which is nice to have!

Do look into the Traynor SB110. I have the SB115 and it is superb. I want, I'd like, I may someday spring for the SB110.
An alternative is Fender Rumble 40. Light as a feather. Giggable.

Thanks for your comment, the markbass 801 is 60w, in 4ohms, is that enough to push the air the right way??? Can you play an small to medium venue? By the way very nice combo you have....Thanks again

Thx! So I have, both, ‘disabled’ (button on the back) the internal speaker & used the 8 with the 12 and/or 15. I have used in gatherings of 100ish people- really does give enough volume!
