I GOT ONE ON THE LAUNCH DATE BECAUSE MY IPOD VIDEO WAS STOLEN AND MAY I SAY I AM SOOOO GLAD I GOT ONE, I REPEAT I AM SO GLAD. IT IS BETTER THAN THE IPOD VIDEO IN EVERYWAY IMAGINABLE. THATS ALL I GOT TO SAY. IF YOU GUYS ARE CURIOUS OF ANYTHING SPECIFIC ABOUT IT, THEN HIT ME UP. ITS ABOUT 1.5 TO 1.75 TIMES THE THICKNESS OF A IPOD VIDEO 30 GIG.

Ok, I will be typing formally now.:rolleyes: (if it really matters that much.)

Pros over ipod video 30 gig:
FM radio
better battery life(almost positive)
Wifi zune sharing capabilities(very easy to use)
feels a hell of alot more durable and thats not just my opinion
100000000 times less scratchability
easy photo import
zune software is 1000 times easier to use than any itunes so far
Looks sexy(haha!) (I got a white one and had a black one IMO white is nicer.)
more pros will be added as i can think of them


CONS over IPod Video 30 gig:
Zune is thicker.
more accessories out for ipod
case for zune is expensive
But about the accesorries for the Zune, it seems like MS is flooring it to give out liscences to all sorts of companies for all kinds of Zune accessories.


In conclusion, I bet in 6 months the Zune will be the new Ipod.

Pretty soon people will be saying put your zune volume lower please, instead of saying "lower your ipod volume please", even if you have your notebook right in front of thier eyes! hahahah!!!

Wifi Zune sharing is just awful in my opinion. You share songs with other zunes, and they will only last 3 days or 3 plays. You cannot access internet with it, or anything like that. Its WiFi is only good for that Zune to Zune sharing. Also...

"Caution: Zune may suddenly accelerate to dangerous speeds. Zune Contains a liquid core, which, if exposed due to rupture, should not be touched, inhaled, or looked at. Do not use Zune on concrete. Discontinue use of Zune if any of the following occurs: Itching, Vertigo, Dizziness, Tingling in extremities, Loss of balance or coordination, Slurred speech, Temporary blindness, Profuse sweating, or Heart palpitations."

Personally I think ipods are pretty durable at this point, of course as with any hard drive mp3 player dropping it will screw you over, that is not the players fault per-se. You still had to say "Zune software" is easier to use. How about mp3 players that don't require software at all?

I don't think the Zune is revolutionary nor do I think it is the new ipod, or better than other mp3 players.

Are you kidding? My zune's battery only lasts 13 hours or so. I hardly ever had to charge my iPod, but with the zune I have to charge it every day or two. The zune market place sucks, it's just confusing. I'm an itunes person. Thoes are my only complaints about it. I'm still really happy I bought it instead of another iPod

They are very durable and hard to scratch. The FM radio works extreamly well. I also really like that the screen goes into landscape when you watch videos

did Creative ver sort out their headphone jack problems? I had a Zen xtra and the jack toasted, looked online and found out the same happened to quite a lot of people. Creative basically gave everyone the finger by saying it was our fault for dropping it (mine had never been dropped). the vision M would be the winner for me but for that.

Any player that does not require a specific OS, software or pay attention to drm is great though. I have a little Rio forge 1.5 gb that I love. Acts like any USB stick when plugged in.

That's where you're totally, totally wrong! I used linux and Firefox to write this post - both are open source and freely distributed. I can take copies of either and pass them to friends. I can take the source code to either and make any changes that I see fit (not that I'm good enough to, but in principle I am fully allowed to).

Also, DRM doesn't apply to applications, but to media. DRM is what restricts you burning your WMA files as a data CD and playing it in your car WMA player or what restricts files downloaded from iTunes to be played only on an iPod but not on a rival brand of player (something which the French have just been voting on and decided that apply must open the format up to rivals).

No offense, but I don't think you understand this issue, and sadly I don't think many people will realise how important it is until it's too late. Just you wait to see the restrictions Vista will put on the media that you buy legally.

If we're thinking of the same issue, it was reported by Microsoft that tunes already purchased from them will not be compatible with the Zune as the DRM (there it is again!) in them is incompatible.

I'll see if I can find the article...

Right, a google search reveals that indeed that trying to install zune software in Vista gives the message "This OS is currently not supported by Zune". Nice one Bill :D

Just got my hands on a Zune at a store here in the airport and I like the screen so much better than iPod Video because of the size, and I also liked the menu layouts.

'Course I only had it in my hands for about 10 minutes, but it would definitely have my interest if I wanted something for watching video that would still fit in my pocket.

Nice ski video on there...
