Mid-Rangy Cut-Through Basses

Warwick, definitely. The growl of those mids are more pronounced.

However, I'd say practically any good bass with a pickup in the bridge position can get a good growl.

The Thunderbird has its share of problems (including balance and cost), but none can say that it doesn't cut through the mix like a machete.

Listening to SOAD's live performances, I can hear the bass quite well. Any ideas on how much a used Gibson runs?
Also, anyone know when Shavo's signature is supposed to be out?

Yeah, that happened last band practice. I had read the article on playing fingerstyle in Death Metal and remembered the sound freqs. that are normally "open" so I tried boosting Mids but it didn't have a very good result.

Had great succsess with my Fender P bass, a Ibanez Tubescreamer, full bass, full treble and cutting mids, especially the low ones. Punchy and great and so clear that i almost didnt dare to play.

if your guitard has his lows boosted there is 2 options
get more lows than him(p bass) or cut from the mid range(stingray or j bass)

You should go with any Carvin bass. They sound awesome and they're built like tanks.

Guys, it think one of the important points, to have a cut through bass and to be heard well is having a good speaker cabinet. Am I correct?

My tone cuts through out guitarist like nothing I've heard. It's all in the bi-amped rig and the fact I'm using an obnoxious sounding Spector.....I'll get some clips of it in action sometime!

Any bass will. It's the EQ U need to worry about IMO/IME. If yr gtr's are running 30w all tube combo's A BASSMAN 250 SHOULD be fine. TRY bass flat, mids boosted to 3/4 treble boosted a touch. If U have parametric Mids... boost at 800-1K

well mid-rangey and cut-through aren't the same thing. Jazz basses are really mid-shy but "cut" well in the right circumstances. Some mistake their clarity as midrange. P's are the mid-range monsters, and while some hear them as blurry, their fat midrange can helps them sit just right in a mix and be heard clearly.
