MIJ 80s vs American Special 2010 Precision Bass

Thanks everyone. I’ll stick with what I have. I do hate to a let bargain go though...

The bass I have already has a few bumps, so there’ll be less tears when I add my own, and to be honest I think it looks better - black on black with a rosewood board. I have no idea what the pup is, but it’s already proven itself in two rock gigs.

It's not a bargain if the bass you have now is better. I'd make the same decision.

The American Specials go for around $600 and I've seen them for less. They never achieved the cache of the Am. Standard series, although some people love them. Their main selling point besides the lower price is a thinner neck.

The E series MIJ precision is a good bass. I think you would find either one to be of good quality, but the MIJ is closer to "vintage" status and perhaps more desirable.

I think it would be a lateral trade as far as price goes, so it's really just a question of which one you'll enjoy more. If you like the MIJ why would you trade?
