thats it... its true about that song No One Knows.. about the real mike dirnt anymore.

AND... no one knows about billie playing on slappy hours... for a 16 year old those solos were really good... the whole band is good. just nobody see's it and judges them for songs like american idiot, or things like that

What's so good about this song again? :eyebrow:

Mike's line in this is great, probably my favorite perfromance by him. He's my favorite player and it's nice to see him get some respect here because this is one of the only sites where he does. I love Stuart and the Ave

Fun performance, the drummer guy was really solid! Mike's "replacement" messed up a bit, though. :D

that knowledge from slappy hours isent even his greatest performence. but still good and stuart and the ave' does own with the intro bass. im glad i got all these replies. because people have no idea who he is only from american idiot.

lol, well a lot of hating and loving going on here for mikey dirnt. Ill toss out my opinion and say that if anyone who hates picks and never uses em gets a pick and has to play with it, dirnt would own them. why? because he has good right hand technique! also, ill give him kudos for those catch ass lines he laid out back in the day!

I like Dirnt (Pre-AI). He is pretty good. Way too good for punk and for Green Day. It's too bad he let Billy Joe belch anti-Bush nonsense for AI instead of laying down some sweet lines.

Longview is fun to play, although not particularly challenging.

Well this thread has worked out brilliantly...I personally am a huge Greenday fan, you get a lot of bad press for it because people seem to think Greenday are below them, but lets face it they ARE good at what hey do and the have the career to prove it.
I think Mike Dirnt is a great player, and i never judge a persons bass skills on weather they use a pick or not. Its personal preference, and for him it sounds good. I think the earlier stuff, like the Dookie album, is technically better than American idiot, but i like both the same. Simply can be good...

people who knock on other bassists only do so because they are jealous and are trying to make themselves feel better. f ex. mark hoppus sucks he only plays simple lines, really means, its not fair i can play way cooler sounding stuff but he makes 100x more money than me :( or mike dirnt sucks, look who's successful guys, who's making more album sales mike dirnt or victor Wooten? you see, victor wooten may be a more talented bassist but mark hoppus is more famous, so whos more succesful? (im using hoppus coz he gets so much hate here on tb)

i see what your saying dude, but.let's see mark hoppus or mike dirnt release a solo album. then u can compare to wooten.lets see what they really got.
