I didn't want to poison the great " First Sale!!! " thread with this mickey crap, but I sure hope he is looking at that thread and sees how it should be done....

steps... I think I get your point, but it is stated in that email you quoted from mike that estimated build time is one year...
that is, at the least, misleading. you've been waiting for 2 years already? did you get a new estimate on finish date?
To most it seems as though you're being exageratedly naive...
I don't think it would do much good for him to defend himself, unless Alex left out parts of the email and facebook conversations. And I don't think that is the case.
This is all pretty consistent with what I have witnessed of Mikey's behavior in the past. And that behavior has been that of a very knowledgeable troll.
I have been waiting for 2 years. Mike's email also said that the time could extend as his availability to build could change. His availability changed. He was completely out of commision for a while. His ankle had to be replaced. His car needed major repair, that he did. His siter's car needed an engine rebuild. He got the opportunity to be the director of the Cinci Blues fest. The guy is building my bass for about half the cost, if not less, than others I checked out. He has been up front with me on everything. I'm ok if others view me as naive. I agreed to be of less importance than his own concerns and I'm ok with honoring that.
Check out the super hollowbody Karl (sonofmagni) built me.

Your such a good guy....
I wood say.....Karma.
.How are you going to supply a duplicate set of used?
I spoke to him and it is the value that he wants.
The most likely real situation is that he's getting out of the luthier game, and literally does not care.
.
How many bids would my company win, if we went to a job and told them, the price will be double material with a $25,000 dollar start up fee. We will let you know what material cost after we buy them. If you need it done by a deadline the price will be raised by 75%.
Its an illogical way of doing business, and the only person who can come out ahead in that scenario is Mikeyswood. I would suggest that anybody having a custom bass built should draw up a simple contract agreed upon by both parties involved, and it should be signed by both parties and notarized.
Its sad to say but, I would just not trust spending this kind of money on a hand shake and trusting the person.

yep it's against the rules so I'm withdrawing it, was fun though to post it, it got all my anger over Alex's issue with this guy out. Now I'm calm and collected again. Ahhhhhh
Breathtaking arrogance.
and again... why cant you be an advocate for the dude?..clearly your relationship seems to be good...seems like your shying away.... why?
stepswork4me said:Brother, I'm not shying away from advocating I just don't think it's my place. Neither party has asked me to participate in any way. Again, I don't see the contract as voided. I just see major communication issues and frustration that I believe could be lined out with cool heads and compromise. That's just me though.
Not that it necessarily has anything to do with this discussion, but it might be interesting to look up Borderline Personality Disorder. As a general curiosity kinda thing.

You just struck a chord the effect of which was remarkably similar to being struck across the shins with a baseball bat.
If I never read another post from the TBer who is the subject of this thread, it will be too soon; way too much hubris, arrogance, and condescension for my taste. Why anyone would transact business with such a contemptible person lies beyond the realm of cogent thought.
