MIM Jazz pots into a P Bass

Hi All, I'm modding a cheap Precision copy. I've put in Epic custom shop pickups (F1 for P Bass) which sound immense, but the input jack is crackling like hell. So... I have the pots and jack from a MIM Jazz which I've previously modded to a stacked knob setup. Someone must have done this before - using 1 x vol, 1 x tone and input jack from J in a P... Bad idea? Will the 'cap' be all wrong? I have no idea..

Can you just fix the jack? Do you just need to bend the tab so it presses tightly against the connector when you plug it in? Or is it a solder joint issue? Seems like overkill to swap out all the electronics when only the jack is giving you trouble.

Isn't the Jazz setup for 2 pickups, but you only have one in the P bass?

The electrics in the cheap bass are astoundingly cheap and are not to be trusted in a bass I intend to use on stage :-)
And yes, but I'll only use one pot and one vol...

I've made the change - had to open out the recess a little as the volume pot was bigger than the original. All soldered and working, no more crackling or signal cut-out. The changes haven't made any difference to the tone that my LOFI ears can discern. So problem solved without laying out any money. Win, win.
