MIM P bass pickup good enough?

I have a MIA P bass but recently bought a nice MIM P bass. Rather than just right away putting an American P pickup or a Seymour Duncan SPB1 in it I thought I'd like to see how the stock pickup works out for a while. I realize it all has to do with how I like it and I realize it doesn't sound just like my MIA but it sort of sounds better than I would have thought. :)

All in all it seems like a very nice Bass. Fit and finish are pretty darn good and the weight was only 7.4lbs! My MIA is 10 lbs.

Anybody like the new MIMs left just the way they are?

Anybody just leave the stock pickup and happy with it's performance in the long run?

I had a MIM P, bone stock and it sounded awesome. I think it was a '04.
The same time I owned the MIM, I built up a '78 P clone, (ash body/maple FB). The ash bass had a '62 reissue pickup, that had less output.
