Mini Rigs of Doom-Let's see 'em!l

1200 watts into the 4ohm 1212L (two twelves and a horn). Not much bigger than most 112's, and about the loudest, punchiest small rig I've ever experienced (and I've tried them all ). The Walter 'widens' up the sound of the 1212L... it's quite balanced sounding and just crazy '410 loud'. Not a huge low end, but a punchy one that is very useable and 'musical' on the gig. The only small rig I've ever been able to use with success in a relatively large room with a loud band and no PA support

I thought you said the WW did not match well with the Schroeders? That sure is what I and others I talked to have experienced.

Here's mine! Actually this is more of what I'd call a medium size rig. Take away the bottom cab and it enters the mini category.

The 1212L and the Walter sounds very good to me. The original 1210R and 1212R sounded like dog with the Walter. My 21012L also does not like the Walter at all.

The 1212L... that's an entirely different story. The neo's, the small box, and the newer crossover seem to be a very nice 'ying and yang' to the Walter. As you know, the Walter does not put out huge 'deep' open low end, and the tight low mid voicing of the 1212L matches up quite well with where the low end on the Walter sits. Also, this Schroe lacks somewhat in the upper mids, which is where the Walter really is voiced to my ear. So, again, it is a very nice match up.

This allows me to say, again, that each Schroeder cab is VERY different sounding... from the very mid (many say 'nasal') sound of the 1210R, to the very mid shy, deep, wide open sounding 21012L.

It's hard to judge these cabs as a 'product line' IMO.

This rig sounds pretty awesome... it still is quite low mid voiced versus a deep, rumbling low end... but for pop music in a busy mix and moderate to loud volume... it works very nicely, especially given its size and weight.

Peavey 210 TX and my Firebass

Not as small as some of these mini rigs, but its a mini to me.

I almost replaced the firebass with a peavey sessionbass head, but, chose not to when i found out the session bass wont run at 2 ohms

That's all well, and good. But, IMNSHO, a 4x10 simply doesn't qualify as "mini." No one said I'm the arbitter of deciding what is, and isn't a mini. But, I still don't see it. "Small?" Sure. "Mini." Nope.

What's next? A 6x10 that is smaller and lighter than other 6x10s qualifies as "mini?" It's a slippery slope, folks. And, one I'm not prepared to go down.

... you know though, if I play my Walter and BergHT210s solo, it sounds WAY better. If I'm playing a smaller, quieter gig where I don't need huge volume and am in a situation where the audience (and I!) can appreciate and experience the subtle nuanced of EB tone (like a jazz trio type gig), it's the HT210s all the way.

However... if I'm in a situation where I need a small rig (due to either stage size or difficult load in), and I need to punch through a large, loud pop/funk band at moderate to loud volume, this little rig does quite well. It does sound somewhat compressed, and is more of a 'brute force' sort of thing. But, that little 1212L is voiced right in between the bass drum and the upper range of the guitars, keyboards and cymbals. It really does provide a nice punchy tone where you can hear every note and still have enough bottom to sound like a bass!

It's pretty cool!

the first week i got my 112 the handle scratched the bottom of my 502

This is one of the Skjold Proto 1x15 with a 6 inch mid. Its a 4 ohm cab and it enjoys every bit of juice the Thunderfunk 420 is giving it. Overall I guess it weighs about 75lbs. I have been trying other cabs recently, but I totally dig this combo. Its too bad Pete couldn't go further with the venture.

Okay, I've been messing with this setup at home, one day I'll do it live.
The EUB is a Clevinger OPUS with an optional 'Holosonic" p/u that essentially amplifies the entire body and neck wood in addition to the peizo 's under the saddles. These are automatcally bridged with separate volume controls when one input is used. Martin Clevinger adds a second input to run the 2 p/u's in stereo for those who are insane about sound.
Usually, the GK is enough for me, it sounds great with this upright. But running the SWR/Bag End rig for the Holosonic p/u is heavenly. I don't know if that qualifies as true stereo but it makes both my ears very happy.
I sometimes run both amps together for loud outdoor gigs using the Radial ABY box you can see there. A mini stack of DOOM!

rolling your eyes wont make your rig any smaller.

Actually I'm in the process of working with a manufacturer and hope to have the modular line together for a 2007 debut .

I'm glad you are digging that cab , I really like it too .

I still say those Skjold protos were made by Marc Serio. Even if Pete doesn't market these, you will be able to get them from Dr.Bass.

Read the above post . Although Dr. bass makes nice cabs he will not be making mine . Just thought I would set the record straight . They may be similiar but won't be the same components .
