Mini Rigs of Doom-Let's see 'em!l

I've also uploaded a sound sample of the mini stack from my gig yesterday. My guitar player records our gigs with a mini-disc (positioned on his side of the stage). Not the best sound quality, but it will give you an idea.

I dunno how "doom-like'' these are, but here's a couple possible combinations from my stash:

SWR Baby Blue II, 160 watts to 2x8+5 + LDS 2x8+5:

This setup is so loud, I won't be needing a second cab for a LONG time:

Basically, I'm running a Gallien-Krueger 2001RB into a matching GK Neo 212. It's designed to crush skulls under the guise of a lightweight rig :smug:

Here's mine. Don't mind that pesky guitar rig on the right. I am loving the two Ampeg SVT12HE cabs. they keep up with that all tube guitar rig just fine. In fact the guitar player has two more of the Mesa cabs on the other side of the room.

I didnt think I had a chance with this setup competing with a loud drummer and my Mesa loving friend here but we were all amazed at how punchy and loud I was. Of course, I have lots of headroom. My Navigator is getting 1400w bridged mono from the Tapco power amp. This helps in the tone department and may not qualify this rig as "mini" but the whole thing fits nicely in my Nissan sentra 4 dr sedan.

I have a 810 for bigger needs but so far the 2 single 12 cabs are working out great.

You guessed it. He's had the ADA modded to have an extrea pre amp tube. It sounds pretty amazing. He doesnt even use the peavey power amp as the little Mesa powers all four of his cabs just fine and its only 20 watts a side.

My guitarist and I are best pals and have been playing together since 1990. My saving grace is that he is more of a gear whore then I am so I dont look so bad! haha.

He changes his rig all the time. The two of us used to stomp all over each other sonically and I could never hear myself. It took a few years to realize that if he played with a scooped mid cut tone and I did the same, we would never hear ourselves clearly no matter how much gear we used.

At one point, he had two marshall 4x12 cabs and I had two QCS power amps, a Trace pre, and two stacks of 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. I still couldnt hear my self!!!

All I needed was to take the smiley face out of my eq curve. He plays with a very mid centered tone now that doesnt obliterate the bass territory and I play with a very tight punchy mid centered tone that cuts through everything nicely.

We both have smaller rigs and sound bigger!! It drives me nuts how many rig configurations and money I spent over the years figuring that out!

The worst it got was when we both had BBE units in our rigs. It was all scoop and impossible to cut through! We both ditched those at the same time and noticed a HUGE improvement!
