Initially I was interested in the BEAD tuning, but after playing it I think I prefer the standard setup. That thing sounded amazing, though. I think I might like to build my own similar EADG bass.

Dave, I forgot to ask a couple more pertinent questions.

1. Your J pup in there looks like standard bridge placement rather than the less common 70's placement (closer to the bridge). Is that correct?

2. How are your pickups wired? Series? Parallel? I remember it was V/V/T for the knobs.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully you buy the old adage that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

1. Yes... 60's placement, and the bridge pup is 10% overwound (Lollar) to get away from a thin Jazz Bridge pup sound

2. Parallel... keeping it simple

Reading the "Times a gig fell apart around you" thread, how did your gig on the 19th go?

KO

Hey yeah - thanks for asking!

Actually went pretty well. Three sets, 60-something songs. Seven of us crammed on a small stage in a small bowling alley with full PA. Got really loud. I couldn't hear the monitors at all. Place was jam packed so energy was very high. We weren't flawless by any means, but we never trainwrecked either and there were people dancing the whole time. I made 50 bucks.

Got two more dates coming up in March - including St. Patty's day, a day I normally try to stay home to avoid the amatuer drinkers. Think I'll stay on the wagon for that gig.

Which bowling alley? Consider this part of your promoting the gig, where are the next two? My next gig (unless something pops up and besides the church gig) is 5/10 doing happy hour at the Amsterdam.

KO

Waconia Lanes - the owner is in the band. We're at some place called "Down South" on the 10th and back at the alley on the 17th.

The Amsterdam in downtown St. Paul? Never been there. What's it like?

Does anyone have any experience with Pro Audio Service in Lakeville? I have an Avalon U5 I'm looking to sell, but it needs a checkup first. The high frequency cut/rolloff switch is muting the entire signal :eyebrow:

I am open to other shops, except EMI. Was not impressed with them.

Tim, I've you mention Casey Gooby. Does he do pro audio?
