Mispronouncing Ottawa

Many years ago (1983, IIRC) A friend of mine and I were in L.A. for the first of three of my brother's weddings
. My friend pronounce it Supple-Veeda!

I’ve heard that folks have used that pronunciation, but I’ve never actually heard it with my own ears
All I’ve ever heard, having been in SoCal for 30 years, is Pee-dro.

You mean Woos-tah or Lie-Stah, or are you somewhere other than Ma LOL!
Massachusetts born and bred. Make sure there's no woo is Wustah though and it's more like Lestah.

It's supposed to be in some Indian dialect that means something like "We fish on this side, you fish on that side and no one fishes in the middle" I don't swear to that translation though.
Cairo, Missouri, is a place. Wasn't as nice as the original. Also not pronounced the same.
I always hear it shortened to just "Pee-dro" but if "San" is included I've heard both ways. Maybe it's just the folks I was around (including ones who lived in the city itself).
South of Kansas City, MO, is the town of Peculiar; yes, they’ve heard all the jokes, so this is one of the exits off the highway...
My ex in-laws were from Lancaster, PA. Everyone there pronounced it "LANK-ster".

Dekalb IL and Dekalb GA....why the "L" does only one pronounce it?
I remember looking for Lafayette Ave. in Nashville when I first moved there and trying to figure out if it was somewhere near this La-FATE street people kept talking about.
